An MHRA and NICE partnership, funded by Wellcome, is addressing key challenges in the regulation and evaluation of digital mental health technologies (DMHTs) with input from patients, the public and mental health professionals. The long-term goal of this three-year project, which began in 2023, is to develop guidance and other sources of information for developers, healthcare professionals, patients and the public to clarify regulatory and evaluation requirements for DMHTs. In a recent study published in Journal of Neuroscienceresearchers examined the white matter of the brains of superagers, that is, people with exceptional cognitive performance, compared to typical older adults over a five-year period. Despite non-significant differences in overall white matter health, the older adults showed better white matter microstructure, particularly in the frontal fibers, suggesting their resistance to age-related cognitive decline. A new study released to mark the 70th anniversary of Sir Roger Bannister’s 4-minute mile record has revealed that the first 200 runners to follow in his footsteps also have another remarkable trait.
