As the hot summer weather approaches, there’s nothing more refreshing than a cool, fruity and flavorful drink to brighten up your day. We all love a delicious cocktail, but for those who want to keep it protein-rich and alcohol-free to focus on a healthier summer, these mocktails are a great option! Let’s explore some delicious high-protein mocktails that won’t derail your summer health goals and give you tips on how to make the perfect guilt-free and indulgent drinks.

What are Mocktails?

Mocktails are non-alcoholic versions of popular cocktails or original non-alcoholic drink concoctions. These refreshing drinks are a creative way to combine different fruits, herbs and flavors that not only satisfy your taste buds but also offer health benefits.

Tips for creating healthy and delicious mocktails

Here are some tips to make your summer mocktails healthy and delicious:

  1. Use fresh and seasonal fruits: Take advantage of the wide variety of fruit available in the summer months. Fresh and seasonal fruits tend to taste better and are packed with vitamins and antioxidants.
  2. Choose natural sweeteners: Instead of adding sugar or artificial sweeteners, consider using natural alternatives like honey, agave nectar, or even the natural sweetness of fruit.
  3. Incorporate herbs and spices: Add a dose of flavor and health benefits by incorporating herbs and spices like mint, basil, ginger and cinnamon into your creations.
  4. Choose low-calorie mixers: Replace sugary sodas or juices with low-calorie options like sparkling water, club soda, or freshly squeezed citrus juice.
  5. Stay hydrated: Remember to balance your delicious mocktails with plenty of water to stay on track with your hydration goals.

  • 1 tablespoon honey (optional)
  • 1/4 cup lime juice
  • 1 cup sparkling water
  • Mixed drink with wild berries

Mix the watermelon cubes, mint leaves, honey, wild berry drink and lime juice until smooth. Pour the mixture into a glass filled with ice and top up with sparkling water. Garnish with a sprig of mint!

Lemon Razzy Summer Spritzer

Brew the herbal tea by pouring hot water over the tea bags in a heat-safe container such as a glass measuring cup or mason jar. Boil the tea for 3-5 minutes. Remove the bags and leave them aside to cool.

*NOTE: You may get better results with the second step if you mix the fruit powder into the hot tea. In this case, add more water or soda to get the desired flavor strength.

Blend the fruit drink by adding 2 packets of fruit mix to a large jar or blender. Add water, cover the container and shake vigorously or stir until dissolved.

Assemble the spritzer by pouring equal parts tea and fruit drink into a glass filled with ice and topped with club soda. Add a squeeze of fresh lemon or lime juice for added health benefits!

Enjoy immediately or refrigerate for up to two days.
