A woman’s age, general health and underlying congenital diseases determine how her pregnancies will proceed. One of the various factors that ensures that a woman’s health is to consume adequate multivitamins. The benefits of folic acid for a healthy pregnancy are undoubtedly because it denies the risk of certain serious genetic abnormalities in the fetus. In addition, eating foods that are naturally rich in folic acid can be beneficial to all women of age.

What is folic acid?

Folic acid is a form of folic acid, a variety of vitamins B (vitamin B9). Folic is a natural vitamin found in foods such as dark, leafy green vegetables, legumes such as dried beans and peas, and fruits such as oranges, bananas, melons and most berries. Folic acidOn the other hand, it is the synthetic corresponding to the folic acid added to food or supplements. Enhanced cereal is one of the best folic acid supplements for pregnancy. Easily absorbed folic acid aids in the formation and maintenance of new cells. Taking the specified folic acid dosage for early pregnancy or 400 micrograms (MCG) folic acid each day prevents several significant genetic abnormalities.

When should pregnant women start taking folic acid?

While most people get sufficient folk natural from their daily diet, natural sources of folic acid during pregnancy cannot be enough for the increased requirement of this vitamin. For pregnant women or women planning pregnancy, folic acid reduces the risk of deformation such as spina bifida and other nerve tube defects (NTDs) in the fetus. Expected women should calculate folic acid as a noun part of Early Pregnancy Supplements Because genetic abnormalities occur within the first 3 to 4 weeks of pregnancy. Only doctors can determine when to start folic acid supplements for their pregnant patients. It is generally believed that folic acid to prevent genetic abnormalities requires daily intake at least one month before conception and continues in the first 12 weeks of pregnancy. In the event of an unscheduled pregnancy, folic acid should start as soon as pregnancy is confirmed.

The role of folic acid in prevention of genetic abnormalities

The first weeks of pregnancy are critical for the development of the fetus and determine its viability. Folic acid defects and nervous tube defects can be determined as inversely proportional to each other. The nervous tube, a flat structure that gradually flows into a tube within a month of conception to become the brain and spinal cord, is one of the first structures to form. The deficiency of folic acid prevents the proper growth of cells in this structure, resulting in abnormalities. Research shows that the risk of NTDs is significantly reduced when a woman gets extra folic acid in addition to a healthy diet one month before conception and continuing as long as the third month of pregnancy.

Why is folic acid necessary for pregnancy?

In addition to producing red blood cells and building and maintaining new body cells, folic acid is responsible for the development of the fetal nervous tube, which later appears as a brain and spinal cord. While some genetic abnormalities can be avoided through prenatal care, it is reassuring news that treatments are available if the fetus is diagnosed with a birth defect. Taking prenatal vitamins with the recommended amount of folic acid before and during pregnancy can help prevent genetic abnormalities in the baby’s brain and spinal cord. According to studies, women who had received folic acid for at least one year before reducing the pregnant woman reduced their chances of premature delivery by at least 50% compared to those who did not.

Why is folic acid important in early pregnancy?

  • It supports cell growth, including blood cells, brain cells, skin and hair growth.
  • It plays a key role in creating DNA and RNA, necessary for cell building.
  • Folic acid makes it possible to form certain amino acids and healthy red blood cells. These cells provide oxygen throughout the body.
  • It reduces the risk of nervous tube defects (NTDS), that is, spina bifida – incomplete developing spinal cord or vertebrae. Anencephaly: Incomplete development of large parts of the brain.
  • Eating folic acid during pregnancy reduces the risk of heart disease, stroke, certain types of cancers, Alzheimer’s disease and preeclampsia.
  • The benefits of folic acid before and during pregnancy protect the unborn baby from the lip and palate, premature birth, low birth weight and miscarriage

Conclusion

Folic acid plays a vital role in supporting a healthy pregnancy, ensuring the development of the baby.
