You may be asking, what exactly is a magnesium lotion or cream and how could it benefit me? Magnesium cream is a personal care product that has gained popularity in recent years. It is a safe supplement cream that can be used by most people to improve their well-being. It is designed to be safe for all ages and skin types. Some have even called it a miracle product for the array of benefits it provides without side effects.

It is usually used as a cream, lotion or oil base that contains a safe and effective form of magnesium for supplementation. The most common type of magnesium used is magnesium chloride or magnesium salt. It is a mineral salt that is beneficial for the body, like sodium chloride – the table salt we use in our food. Other commonly used mineral salts include potassium chloride, a popular salt substitute in cooking. However, the magnesium chloride in magnesium creams and lotions is absorbed by the body topicallywhich means applied to the skin.

What does Magnesium Lotion do?

Magnesium aids more than three hundred bodily functions, including balancing blood sugar, blood pressure, and immune responses, as well as helping the body regenerate tissues. Some of the most immediate functions we may encounter in everyday life include supporting muscles and nerves. Magnesium (or Mg, as it’s abbreviated to its chemical form) also works with the body’s calcium to help it function properly, such as using vitamin D from the sun and getting energy from food.

The number one reason why magnesium supplements are growing in popularity is the need for quality sleep. Fast-paced modern lifestyles, along with magnesium deficiency, can cause people to sleep less, whether they want to or not.

Having enough magnesium in your body can help you feel more calm, focused, agile, rested, temperature-regulated and energetic. However, magnesium deficiency can disrupt restful sleep and cause any of these conditions to become imbalanced.

How Much Magnesium Do We Need?

People of all ages benefit from magnesium supplements, however teenagers and adults need and use the most daily during normal body processes. Those who are pregnant can benefit from additional supplements to take into account the growing baby.

From birth, a person may need about 30 mg per day, which then gradually increases over the years to about 400 mg per day for a healthy adult. It is always best to check with your doctor for specific concerns or to determine individual needs.

Why are we deficient in Magnesium?

Studies have shown that almost everyone in the world is deficient in magnesium due to soil erosion. Soil erosion means that the beneficial minerals and nutrients from the soil that are normally taken up by the plants and crops we use for food are slowly depleted or stripped away over time. This means that our food crops, while still healthy food sources, do not always have the optimal content of minerals or nutrients that our bodies need. This can eventually lead to magnesium deficiency along with other nutritional deficiencies.

Magnesium deficiency can even be the cause of the following commonly occurring symptoms: anxiety, nerve pain, joint pain or arthritis, restless legs, muscle pain or spasms, headaches or migraines, and irritability, among others.

How can I get more Magnesium?

A magnesium lotion or cream is a convenient way to give your body a dose of topical magnesium. It absorbs quickly and doesn’t leave a greasy or sticky residue like a magnesium oil or mineral broth. You don’t need to make a special trip to a hot spring or other sea water. There may not always be time or space for an epsom salt bath. And most importantly, you don’t need to take oral magnesium supplements that can cause stomach upset and discomfort. While taking pure capsules can be beneficial for a variety of nutrients, don’t forget that your skin is your largest organ and you can use natural products to supplement your health and wellness.

It is almost impossible to get much magnesium through topical application. Because of the challenges of obtaining magnesium through the diet, people are much more likely to be deficient than to have excess amounts at any time.

How do you use magnesium cream?

The cream can be applied as you would a regular body lotion. It is best used when applied to hands and feet, soles of feet, inner navel, elbows, armpits, backs of knees or when massaged directly into sore muscles and joints. The most popular application method by far is on the soles before bed, which acts as a smoothing and cooling magnesium foot or leg cream. Using it as a “goodnight cream” in your nighttime routine is quickly becoming the number one use, not only for restless leg cramps but also for total body relaxation. It can also be applied during the day for a gentle sense of calm.

Better Shea Butter Good Night Magnesium Cream contains gentle moisturizing butters and oils that deliver skin-loving nutrients that sink in easily so benefits are experienced quickly. Be careful not to use it on open wounds as it is salt and can sting!

Whether you choose to use it as a soothing cream to soothe aching muscles, joints or nerves, for sleep or during pregnancy, or even as a topical magnesium massage, you’re sure to experience wellness-enhancing benefits and increase the feeling of calmness in your everyday life.

Long-term benefits of magnesium supplements

Magnesium deficiency can cause a number of symptoms, and restoring magnesium balance can in turn promote a number of benefits. The most typical physical and emotional benefits may include feeling more calm, reduced or eliminated muscle, nerve and joint pain, greater ease of mobility, and more restful sleep immediately and over time.

And as we know, adequate sleep provides many health benefits in itself, such as mental clarity and focus, regulated energy levels, weight control, body repair and restoration, and balanced mental health.

Benefits of the best shea butter magnesium cream

This cream contains Zechstein magnesium, from the pristine ancient seabed of the Zechstein sea off the coast of the Netherlands. It is completely pure, free of additives and very rich in bioavailable magnesium chloride.

It also contains raw shea butter, mango butter and apricot oil, which are very popular natural beauty products and skin foods that help rebuild the skin over time. These butters and oils contain nutrients, vitamins and minerals that help improve skin tone, texture and moisture levels.

This cream is available in popular natural fragrances such as: Unscented, a classic favourite. Peppermint provides a cooling sensation of relaxation on hot nights. Lavender soothes the nerves and aids restful sleep and Vanilla/Rose is a floral gourmet scent that helps encourage a positive state of mind. All of these are scented with 100% pure essential oils only to contain no artificial fragrances.

This cream contains approximately 480 mg of magnesium per jar. If you use the recommended dose of 1 teaspoon, you’ll get about 20 mg of magnesium per application.

I hope this has helped you learn more about magnesium supplements and why magnesium cream is such a beneficial product to use in your daily personal care routine! Feel free to comment below with any other questions or comments you may have.
