If you’re new here, a little history is probably in order: I started Mark’s Daily Apple blog in 2006 as a way to share the information I was learning and synthesizing as part of my personal health transformation. This whole story is here if you are interested.
For many years, I wrote almost every day about anything and everything related to how to be a healthy, happy, productive, fulfilled and long-lived person. Along the way I wrote books, developed digital programs, started one institute to train health coaches, and founded a company dedicated to making the best sauces, seasonings and staples with the real ingredients I believed in.
At the end of 2023, we retired Mark’s Daily Apple blog. The idea was to do some behind-the-scenes updates and bring it back online in a few weeks. What does this say about the best laid plans? Yes, ours went awry.
But now we’re back with a new home on Substack. MDA will continue to serve as an archive of the two decades of work we’ve done at Mark’s Daily Apple and as a place to publish new content as well. For longtime members of the Mark’s Daily Apple community, this is a day we’ve all been waiting for and a cause for celebration.
I’m sure you have some questions too, which I’ll do my best to answer below. This has been a long time coming. I hope you are as pleased as I am to see MDA revived.
Now to your questions.
The short answer is that after we took down the blog, we discovered that it was not possible to simply restore the blog to the scaffolding we had previously built. A 20-year-old blog is quite old in technology years, not to mention that blogging as a creative and educational medium has changed dramatically in that time.
Given this, we started looking at alternatives from rebuilding from scratch to rebooting on a different platform. Each plan had pros and cons, but we’re very happy we landed here at Substack. This allows us to restore the records and hopefully also reach new people who can benefit from learning all things Primal.
As I said, we thought a lot about the best way to bring MDA back online. Ultimately we decided to start with core content and the most popular and recent posts, then work our way back into the archives.
Fun fact: MDA includes over 6,000 posts and pages in all, and we review every single one.
Check out the Archive tab and use the search function to see everything that’s here. If there’s a specific post you’d like to see reposted, you can let me know here. My team and I will do our best to bring back the most requested posts in a timely manner.
Yes, like the posts, we will bring them back (at least some of them). You can request your favorites in it the same link.
No! MDA will remain free and accessible to everyone as always.
I certainly still have many thoughts to share — whether they’re here, or about me social mediaor through circular — so make sure you’re registered.
I still send out (mostly) weekly emails with my observations and thoughts, reactions to recent scientific studies, and the like. This is a great way to stay updated besides reading here. Subscribe to the list here.
Let me reiterate my thanks for your patience as we figured it all out. I hope this is the start of a great new chapter for Mark’s Daily Apple.
And now a question: I need your help to get the word out.
Follow Mark’s Daily Apple at Instagram or Facebook and share our posts so people know where to find us in our new home here at Substack.
Subscribe and comment on posts.
Share them in Notes.
And join in circular list to become and MDA insider stay up to date on all things Primal.
Thanks everyone. I’m glad to be back.
