The term “Mommy Makeover” has gained popularity over the last decade or so, but what really does it include? And for whom is the right choice? In this episode of ChatI am united by the famous plastic surgeon who has been certified by the Dr. Thomas Francel to pull the curtain back to mom makeovers and really help us understand what women need to consider. With over 30 years of surgical expertise and passion for women’s education and empowerment, Dr. Francel shares these procedures, how to browse the emotional and natural aspects of the journey and much more. Whether you are curious, taking into account a counseling, or just want to understand the facts before doing any plastic surgery, this discussion is honest, opening your eyes and extremely useful.

Who is Dr. Thomas Francel?

Dr. Thomas Francel is a plastic surgeon certified by the Board of Directors, who has devoted more than 30 years to transform lives through his surgical expertise. Dr. Francel has created a reliable private practice and a distinguished reputation in the field. His medical journey began with training at Harvard Surgical Services, followed by specialization in Plastic Surgery at Johns Hopkins Hospital. As a sought -after speaker, he presented at 20 national and international conferences of plastic surgery. Dr. Francel gained national recognition when ABC of 20/20 interview with serious post-surgery infections, where his ideas influenced best practices across the industry. His passion extends beyond the surgery, focusing on education, empowerment and compassionate care for others. In his book debut, Exposing bad plastic surgeryDr. Francel demystifies the experience of plastic surgery for consumer protection as they browse their needs and choices.

What did we discuss?

In this episode, I talk to Dr. Francel about Plastic Surgery after Baby, also called by many “mom makeovers”, and what women really need to know. Here are many of the questions we covered in our conversation:

  • For our listeners who may not know what exactly is a “Makeover mom”, and what does it mean?
  • What are the most common procedures included in a mom’s makeover?
  • In your opinion, who is the ideal candidate for a makeover mom? Are there any specific factors to be taken into account? Does every mom need a makeover?
  • What is considered a realistic recovery and when may a little mom need?
  • In your opinion, how do social views on motherhood and body image influence the decision to have a makeover mom?
  • What is the golden ratio of 0: 7: 1, and how does this improve the look?
  • What should anyone look for when choosing a surgeon for plastic surgery?
  • What are some common risks related to makeup and how can they be minimized or avoided?
  • What do you propose to do a patient before deciding on procedures?
  • What was the most satisfying aspect of your work in this area?
  • What is a key obstacle that you want listeners to remember if they look at plastic surgery?

Plastic surgery is a deeply personal decision. And when it comes to processes such as breast increases and abdominal pressures – often referred to as “moms” – knowledge is really power. As Dr. Francel pointed out, understanding your choices and work with a specialized, compassionate surgeon is the key to making documented decisions that are aligned with you and your life.

I hope this episode gives you the information you need to explore what is right for you – not on social pressure – because, as Dr. Francel said, ‘This should not matter’ – but to what he does you Feel your best.
