Let’s talk about preparing yourself for an AM sex break.

Over the years, I’ve learned that sexual pleasure doesn’t happen by accident. I’m much more likely to experience it if I have the right habits: habits that make me feel clean and confident, sexy and sensual.

Some of these habits are sleep hygiene basics (sleep eight hours a night, wake up at the same time every day, charge my phone outside the bedroom), but the real magic happens when I wake up.

So let’s help you feel like yourself all day, starting with a 10/10 morning routine.

Breathing in bed

If your mind is confused, you can say goodbye to sexy vibes for a while. So first thing’s first:

  • 3 to 20 minutes of breathing to calm your nervous system and clear your mind.
  • The full 20 minutes is ideal, but if there isn’t enough time, I don’t want to make myself feel bad. I can always find 3 minutes.
  • From Psychologists have found that a regular breathing practice is effective in combating anxiety, depression and stress, it’s something I try not to skip.

Meditate, Masturbate, Manifest

While you’re still in bed, it’s the perfect time for my favorite ritual of all.

  • “Masturbation meditation” is something you can try after breathing to take advantage of your calm state.
  • As you begin the touch of yourself, be alive to every little sensation.
  • Need a boost, vulva owners? I’m currently loving the Empress 2 from VUSH, which mimics the best oral sex of your entire life.
  • It’s a fantastic game in its own right, but it’s also part of it VUSH I Come First Self-Connection Kit.**
  • No matter what you use to reach orgasm, you can use all the nourishing chemicals you just gave yourself, like oxytocin.
  • It’s what some scientists call “the love hormone.”
  • What do you feel grateful for? And, what would you like to see more of? Use your after-glow to manifest as you mean it.

After you’re done: keep the good vibes going and make your bed! ONE recent survey found that among people who made their beds every morning, 58 percent said they were productive the rest of the day. I like those odds.

Sensory Self-Care

Next: love in your body even more.

  • First the Orals (no, not so much…yet). Brush teeth and use mouthwash with an all-day bad breath medication (SmartMouth is my current obsession: it uses zinc ions to Eliminate bad breath for 24 hours with just two rinses a day). There’s nothing sexier than smelling good (all day long).
  • Then face time. My own skincare routine is changing, but the non-negotiable is Supergoop Sunscreen: I put these things.
  • On the rest of your body: most of us are lucky if we can get lotion on, but check. ONE recent study found that regular oil-based self-massage resulted in more relaxation, stress relief, and emotional balance. Nice, right? I am using OSEA Malibu products for this step.

Mindful Movement

You have breathed. You’ve cleaned up. Have an orgasm! Time to get the blood flowing.

  • You’ll reap the mental health benefits all day long when you exercise in the morning.
  • My ideal scenario is yoga, but even if it’s a half hour walk, I try to get up on time every day for at least some activity.
  • Don’t worry if it’s not a hard workout – just see what happens when you’re active every morning.
  • It’s like giving yourself a shot of endorphins: feel-good chemicals that set the rest of your day up for pleasure.

Write down your intentions

This is a little extra credit, but if you can: put pen to paper and write down your intentions for the day.

  • Doing this will make you feel more in control of the day’s events, rather than your schedule controlling you.
  • If your intention is sex, great.
  • But perhaps your intention is to dress in an outfit that makes you feel warm, cook a meal that lights up your senses, or catch up with a friend on your lunch break. The world is your oyster!
  • The main thing is to not make this calendar on your phone: use a real analog, old calendar. The simple act of writing has showed up to improves memory and information retention and helps you focus on what’s important.

When you have a morning routine that makes you feel empowered and calm, it’s much easier to feel sexy during the day. You have given yourself positive hormones, you have created blood flow all it’s over and you’ve prioritized your pleasure. Time totally well spent.
