Shakeology Reviews Are At: Over 1 Billion Servings And Counting:

It’s a number that stops you in your tracks: over a billion servings sold. That’s an impressive number for a product that has never hit a store shelf (so far). But this protein-superfood shake has been serving satisfied customers for over 15 years, and unlike many nutrition brands that will build momentum on a message of quality and potency, but gradually dilute that quality with the bottom line for profit, Shakeology has maintained if not improved its standard of excellence and effectiveness even today.

The big picture: What the numbers show

According to a compilation by BrandRated.com, Shakeology owns one average rating of 4.2 out of 5 stars on Amazonwhere the most popular product – the 30-serving bag of Chocolate Vegan – consistently generates rave reviews. On Trustpilot, the image is equally hot among fans: a review analysis on HonestBrandReviews.com found that 66% of Shakeology reviewers rated it “Excellent” or “Excellent”.

It’s worth noting up front — as many review sites pointed out that Shakeology was sold through a network of independent “Beachbody Coaches,” many of whom earned commissions on sales. In 2024, BODi closed the network and moved to a multi-channel sales model that will include retail.

While many reviews come from former Beachbody coaches, many unaffiliated reviewers have also weighed in positively, and their voices are a big part of what follows.

What customer reviews say:

  1. Taste — The most repeated compliment

The one thing that comes up over and over again in positive Shakeology reviews is the taste. An analysis at EnvisionSolutionsNow.com noted that “The great tasting flavors of the shakes” it was the single most recurring positive point in both professional and customer reviews.

    On Amazon, one reviewer wrote:

“Best tasting and most consistent drink on the market! Tried a handful of others that tasted terrible and watery.”

    Another Amazon customer said:

“I like that it’s a deep chocolate flavor without being overly sweet.”

And from Influenster.com, one reviewer proclaimed:

“Vegan chocolate is by far my favorite as it tastes delicious… I love this protein powder! I’m not a fan of protein powders to begin with as they usually always have an aftertaste, but not this one! I’ve had it in shakes, chocolate mousse, ice cream etc!”

Ryan and Alex – two engineers who published a detailed 10-year case study on their website RyanAndAlex.com – put it simply:

“I would never pay that kind of money and drink a shake every day if I didn’t like the taste.”

They go on to note that Chocolate and vanilla are the most popular flavors among their customer base, awarded for their recipe flexibility. (Note: Ryan and Alex appear to have been Beachbody coaches.)

  2. Satiety and craving control

The second biggest positive is how well Shakeology manages hunger. This is not only proven by BODi’s clinical study, but is central to the product’s promotion — it’s not positioned as a superfood protein drink, but as a complete nutrition drink designed to solve junk food cravings.

From the testimonials section of the BODi website:

“Shakeology helps me curb my sweet cravings, gives me energy, and helps with my results! I’ve tried other shakes in the past and never had the success I had with Shakeology.”

“Shakeology makes me want to snack less because I know I’m putting in the effort to get results and I’m fueling my body with things I need.”

A review compiled on HonestBrandReviews.com states:

“Shakeology has completely changed my eating habits. I get what I need from my drink and feel full, instead of needlessly snacking with no nutritional value.”

“Shakeology gives me energy, provides my body with real nutrients it needs, fuels my muscles and keeps me satisfied.”

An anonymous Ask MetaFilter user who appeared to be a regular (non-coach) customer wrote:

“I’ve been on Shakeology for a few months, it definitely reduces my cravings for bad things and I feel better/healthier overall.”

  3. Nutritional density — The all-in-one appeal.

One of Shakeology’s key selling points is that it combines protein, fiber, probiotics, prebiotics, adaptogens, antioxidants, and superfoods into a single serving—saving customers the hassle of buying and managing a cabinet full of supplements.

On Amazon, customers describe it like this:

“Shakeology is a great liquid meal, packed with lots of superfoods and easy to prepare.”

“Tastes great with milk, half a banana and a teaspoon of almond butter. Very hearty and filling. Helps with bowel movement.”

A reviewer on Influenster made the price comparison clear:

“The price may be higher than protein powders, but this isn’t just your average protein powder – the extra supplements you’ll need to take in addition to a regular powder make it well worth the money.”

Ryan and Alex of RyanAndAlex.com put it memorably in their 10-year review:

“Drinking Shakeology is like daily nutritional insurance coverage that allows us to cheat and not derail.”

One of their customers mentioned by RyanAndAlex.com added:

“I know a lot of people who complain about the price, but my motto is: you get what you pay for. The shakes are PACKED with dense nutrition and superfoods. I drink this every day as one of my meals.”

  4. Weight loss and energy

Weight loss support and improved energy levels round out the main reasons why this shake has achieved billion-unit sales, as read in BrandRated.com’s aggregated reviews.

Most Trustpilot reviewers who rated Shakeology positively said so “transformed their eating habits” it gave them steady energy and helped them achieve their weight loss goals.

    On Amazon, one buyer wrote:

“The best drink I’ve had! It gives me a lot of nutrients that I need but struggle to get. After I started drinking this daily, I saw a major improvement in my weight loss journey!”

The EatProteins.com review (published in 2026) summed up the broader pattern well: “Long-term users report consistent satisfaction after years of daily consumption. The product inspires strong brand loyalty among Beachbody/BODi program participants.”

  5. Vegan and plant-based options

Shakeology has built a loyal following among vegetarians, who appreciate that many of the flavors are completely vegan without sacrificing taste or nutrition.

BrandRated.com noted that positive Trustpilot reviewers often highlighted the brand variety of vegan options as the main reason they love the product.

So, Why Has Shakeology Sold Over a Billion Servings?

A billion servings is a remarkable number for a high quality product. So what accounts for this kind of continued demand for more than 15 years?

It fills a real nutritional gap. When Shakeology launched in 2009, the “superfood nutrition shake” category didn’t even exist. BODi’s own blog states that “Shakeology created the superfood shake category 15 years ago.” Especially for its own CEO, who is a self-proclaimed “vegetable hater,” he commissioned the creation of Shakeology for people who couldn’t—or wouldn’t—eat the recommended daily servings of fruits, vegetables, and fiber.

It integrates incredibly well with a fitness ecosystem. Shakeology does not exist in isolation. It’s sold alongside more than 140 fitness programs like P90X, Insanity, 21-Day Fix and other high-commitment home fitness programs, and often a monthly subscription to Shakeology comes with a free trial of the BODi fitness platform. People who want a real lifestyle change find that the combination of starting a new exercise program and Shakeology is the combination that has brought them the best results.

It’s good enough to be a habit. This point cannot be overstated. A healthy product that people hate drinking is eventually abandoned. Shakeology’s constant praise for taste has helped make it a daily ritual rather than a chore for millions of customers.

It continues to evolve. BODi releases updates to the Shakeology formula on an ongoing basis, with co-creators Isabelle Daikeler and Darin Olien meeting monthly with an R&D team to review ingredients and testing standards. This group is demanding. And the 2024 launch of Shakeology’s 0g Added Sugar line is an example of the brand responding to changing consumer priorities without sacrificing taste or nutrition.

A Fair Note

It would be remiss not to acknowledge that some reviews of Shakeology online are mixed. Critics point to the high price—though their comparisons tend to be to simple protein shakes or grass powders, which lack the comprehensive nature of Shakeology. Some users said they had digestive issues but resolved them by cutting the portion size in half. The EatProteins.com review notes that the product has complaints related to subscription cancellation issues, a separate issue from the product itself, and one that BODi believes has been resolved with their move to Shopify and simple to use subscription management software.

What the positive reviews reflect is a real and loyal customer base for whom Shakeology really works — for taste, nutrition, convenience and healthy habits. This is a story with meaning, and it argues that the first billion portions sold will not be the last.
