There’s a new meal replacement shake in town, creating a lot of excitement. Rootana is a meal replacement shake that avoids the use of artificial sweeteners or preservatives. It also prioritizes high-quality ingredients to promote health and weight loss. But does it live up to the hype? This Rootana meal replacement shake review will find out.

Rootana at a glance

  • 400 calories per serving
  • 13-16 grams of fat (depending on taste)
  • 43-47 grams of carbohydrates
  • 7.1-9.4 grams of fiber
  • 20-21 grams of protein
  • 24 vitamins and minerals (20% RDA)
  • No artificial sweeteners
  • Without preservatives
  • No artificial colors
  • Non-GMO

There are three Rootana flavors available and the macros vary slightly depending on your choice. Original flavor has the highest fat and protein, while vanilla has the highest carbohydrate count. But the difference is minimal and will not affect your results.

How does Rootana compare to other meal replacement shakes?

What makes Rootana different? What sets it apart from all other meal replacement shakes is its commitment to avoiding artificial sweeteners, preservatives and colors. No other company does this. Even the healthiest use stevia for sweetness.

Rootana uses natural coconut sugars, which are very low in calories and won’t make your shake taste overly sweet.

In terms of its macronutrient profile, it’s similar to Huel, with decent protein, decent fiber, and lots of healthy low GI carbs and healthy fats.

It is not as high in protein and fiber as Instant Knockout Complete, but Rootana is aimed more at a balanced and healthy lifestyle, while Complete is primarily designed for weight loss. Hence the highest amount of protein and fiber per serving.

Rootana ingredients

There are six main ingredients found in Rootana and we will look at each one in this section. There’s also a mix of vitamins and minerals, which is pretty self-explanatory.

Oat flour powder

Touted as the healthiest carbohydrate in the world, oat flour is very popular in meal replacement shakes because it offers many benefits. Firstly, the taste and texture of the oats is wonderful, helping to create a creamy and delicious shake. Oats are also highly sustainable, making them a great choice for anyone who cares about the environment.

But it is nutritionally that oats stand out. They are an excellent source of soluble fiber, which is known to reduce the risk of cardiovascular disease [1] and help reduce the risk of certain cancers [2]. Oats can also lower your blood pressure, lower bad cholesterol, and remove triglycerides from your blood.

Oats are also very filling, meaning they can keep you full for a long time after you finish your shake. A 2016 study in the Journal of the American College of Nutrition found that oats increased satiety and reduced total calories consumed during the day [3].

Thanks to the fiber and phytochemicals found in oats, they can help improve gut health and the digestive process. They can also contribute to a strong immune system.

Pea protein isolate

Pea protein is a great choice for vegans and allergy sufferers as it is plant-based and hypoallergenic. It is a complete protein that contains all the essential amino acids required for muscle building. Other than that, it works like any other form of protein. It helps build muscle, prevent muscle loss during dieting and increase satiety. In addition, pea protein has a high concentration of BCAAs, making it ideal for maintaining muscle during a calorie deficit.

Golden ground flaxseed

Omega-3 fatty acids are a critical component of health, but most sources come from fish, which is not ideal for vegans or people who dislike the smell or taste of fish. Flaxseed is a plant source of alpha-linoleic acid (ALA), the building block for omega-3s.

Thanks to its fiber content, flaxseed can help stabilize blood sugars, increase satiety and manage weight. In addition, flaxseeds are highly effective in lowering cholesterol levels by allowing the development of good HDL cholesterol [4].

Sunflower oil

High in oleic acid, sunflower oil has been shown to lower cholesterol levels and reduce the risk of heart disease [5]. The oil is also a good source of vitamin E and is rich in antioxidants.

Coconut sugar

Instead of artificial sweeteners, Rootana uses natural coconut sugars, which provide fiber and nutrients like calcium, potassium and zinc.

Sunflower lecithin

The primary function of sunflower lecithin is as an emulsifier. Helps provide stability and blendability. But sunflower lecithin has also been shown to improve mood and cognitive function by helping to support healthy brain function.

How to use Rootana

Rootana is designed to be taken as a substitute for either breakfast or lunch. However, it can be used for both. Fill a shaker with 500 ml of cold water and add five heaping tablespoons of Rootana (100 grams). Tighten the shaker lid, then shake as hard as possible for 10-20 seconds.

You can also choose to blend your Rootana if you have a good blender. Finally, add crushed ice for a smooth, frozen drink. Perfect in warm weather.

Rootana side effects

As Rootana uses hypoallergenic ingredients, the risk of side effects is very low. You may experience some bloating if you are not used to a high fiber diet, but other than that, Rootana is perfect for new users.

Rootana Meal Replacement Shake Review

Rootana is a great meal replacement shake, perfect for anyone who wants to avoid the use of artificial sweeteners, preservatives or colors. It is rich in protein with a high fiber content and is full of vitamins and minerals. Rootana’s commitment to using natural food ingredients is second to none and we are excited to see what the future holds.

If you want to lose weight, maintain a healthy weight, or even gain weight and build some muscle, Rootana is a great choice. Combining it with exercise, a nutritious diet, good sleep and stress management will provide the best results.

Rootana is a cleaner, healthier alternative to other meal replacement shakes. Ideal for health conscious people who want to improve their lifestyle. Check out Rootana’s website here.
