If are you guilty of falling down a rabbit hole at 2am on TikTok, you might be familiar with the recent beauty trend called skin flooding – a technique for moisturizing dry skin. If you have you got more self control than us and the trend passed you by, no worry! Wbefore here with the low-down on what skin flooding is and if of worth investing in.

So as we are here for warm nights, bubble baths and our favorite candles during the winter months, we no you have time for the dry skin that comes with it. From Jack Frost who pinched our nosesin our central heating that steals the moisture from our skin, of one time of year where we need to put more emphasis on moisturizing the deeper layers of our skin. WHand hydration is important all year round, of It’s important to incorporate extra TLC into our skincare routines to replenish the water loss our skin is experiencing the colder months.

Skincare expert Alana knows the science behind skin hydration: “Moisturizing your skin maintains a healthy balance of homeostasis. Water helps your skin tissues maintain an effective cell renewal process. Dry skin is less likely to handle this, so it results in a dull complexion, while hydrated skin looks healthier and brighter.”

So, what is skin flooding?

Of simple, really. Skin flooding is a technique that involves “flooding” the skin by placing light moisturizing products in a specific order for deeper and long term hydration. The technique includes five simple steps (that probably not direct toThe away from your daily routine!): cleansing the skin, toning, applying a moisturizing serummoisturizer and finally applying a person oil.

Hyaluronic acid is a key ingredient here why attracts moisture by holding water molecules. For this reason, wet skin is best when practicing flood skin.

How can I skin flood and what products do I need?

Our skin care product specialist, Alana, gives us a breonekdown how to flood skin with your Tropic products for maximum results!

Step one: dothinner

Grinding cleaner: This The gentle cleanser quenches thirsty skin by nourishing the skin with jojoba and macadamia oils.

Apply 2-4 pumps to your face and neck every morning and evening, giving a relaxing massage to reset your mind and stimulate your senses. Then rinse your super soft bamboo face cloth with warm water and use it to wipe off any excess cleanser.

Step two: tintegration msubstance

Juicy Greens: Niacinamide and mild plant-based AHAs and PHAs star in this revitalizing cocktail for the skin. It gently exfoliates the skin’s surface, allowing the hydrating kiwi and cucumber juices to reach the deeper layers while restoring the skin’s barrier.

Leave a few drops on a cotton pad and gently sweep over your entire face after cleansing. For a burst of extra hydration, follow with a spritz of Morning Mist.

Step Three: smallErum

Rainforest dew: what better than hyaluronic acid? How about a serum that has plant peptides in it too! Moisturize, plump and firm with this nutrient complex and let the evergreen fern extract soothe sensitive skin.

Step Four: do notisturiser

Step Five: eatextreme Theil

Super Greens: exists we love our lightweight face oil so much. Of a green juice that invigorates your skin, packed with ceramides and fatty acids. Super Greens has been clinically tested and proven to stop transdermal water loss up to 34% in just 28 days.

You can find out which Tropic products are best for your skin type downloading The Skincare Routine Finder.

So what is it The verdict; It’s safe to say that skin flooding has many benefits, from providing long-lasting, deep hydration to helping our skin absorb our products more successfully. The extra moisture our skin receives from this method can prevent water loss and ultimately repair the skin barrier. Any skin type can benefit from skin flooding, helping to achieve a firmer and more radiant complexion.

On the other hand, there are a few things to watch out for. Increased product penetration can cause irritation on sensitive skin types and breakouts can occur which can be a red flag for those with oily skin. Dry skin types may also want to be careful with this method, as using a combination of moisturizing products can leave the face feeling greasy or congested.

Something this technique doesn’t take into account is SPF, a critical part of our skin care routine that should never to be missing. If your skin could use a boost of moisture, the Skin Flood is definitely something to try. Just be sure to consult a dermatologist or doctor first, especially if you have serious skin conditions or concerns.
