NYU Langone Health Earns No. 1 Rank in Neurology and Neurosurgery for Third Year in a Row

NYU Langone Health reaffirmed its position as the nation’s top hospital for neurology and neurosurgery, securing the No. 1 ranking for the third year in a row US News & World Reportannual rating of leading hospitals. NYU Langone also moved up two spots to secure the No. 1 ranking in pulmonology and lung surgery.

In addition, NYU Langone was recognized as the top hospital in New York for cardiology, cardiac surgery and vascular surgery, ranking second nationally.

US News & World Report no longer ranks hospitals numerically. However, he named NYU Langone to his honor list of the top 20 hospitals in the country. The honors extend to nursing sites at NYU Langone, including Tisch Hospital, Kimmel Pavilion and NYU Langone Orthopedic Hospital in Manhattan. NYU Langone-Long Island Hospital; and NYU Langone Hospital — Brooklyn.

All 13 of NYU Langone’s ranked clinical specialties placed in the top 20 nationally, with 9 of them ranking in the top 5.

  • #2 in cardiology, cardiac surgery and vascular surgery
  • #2 in urology (tie)
  • #2 in geriatrics
  • No. 3 in orthopedics
  • No. 4 in recovery (tie)
  • #5 in diabetes and endocrinology
  • #5 in gastroenterology and gastroenterology
  • No. 9 in rheumatology
  • No. 10 in ear, nose and throat
  • No. 17 in cancer
  • #19 in obstetrics and gynecology (tie)

Also of note, NYU Langone received High Performance ratings for all 20 procedures and conditions included in the Adult and Condition Joint Procedure Assessments, highlighting its comprehensive capabilities across medical specialties. These include kidney failure, diabetes, heart care, cancer surgery, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), leukemia, lymphoma and myeloma, orthopedic surgery, pneumonia and stroke.

Beyond recognizing it from US News & World Report, NYU Langone has consistently earned top ratings for quality and safety from other health care evaluators. Vizient Inc. named NYU Langone the top inpatient and outpatient network nationally. The Leapfrog Group has awarded each NYU Langone nursing facility an “A” safety rating, and the US Centers for Medicare and Medicaid has awarded a 5-star rating for safety, quality and patient experience.

NYU Langone includes 6 inpatient sites, the Perlmutter Cancer Center, and more than 300 outpatient sites in the New York area and Florida. The system also includes two medical schools, in Manhattan and Long Island, and a vast research enterprise.
