Did you know that your neck and décolleté are among the first places to show signs of aging?1 Not only because the skin there is actually thinner than the rest of your face, but also because many of us forget to leave our entire routine under our chin. Ouch

Even for those who diligently protect and care for this delicate area, it still misses out on many of the fancy devices we use on our face. Enter the CurrentBody Neck & Décolletage Mask: Series 2.

Overview

What is it
An LED mask for your neck and décolleté area with 3 ultra-precise wavelengths of red, near-infrared and deep near-infrared light that targets all signs of aging.

Available for
$419 at Current Body. Use a password GEEKY with a 10% discount!

Wavelength
633nm (red light), 830nm (near infrared light) and 1072nm (deep near infrared light) with a total of 229 LEDs

Irradiation
30 mW/cm2

Fluence
18 J/cm2

Size & Fit
It comes with two adjustable straps and the neckline flap is a generous size, meaning you can also use it on the back, lower chest or tummy area. The flexible and non-slip silicone texture gives it flexibility to work on these different body parts without the mask slipping.

Healing time
10 minutes, 3-5 times a week, although I usually use mine every day.

Pain Level & Disability
None

Waiting for charging
I have about 2 weeks of use (14 times) before I need to recharge. You will notice the light flashing on the controller when the battery is low.

User experience

Due to my neglect of the neck area when I was younger and possibly poor posture, I have some very deep wrinkles and dullness on my neck that instantly adds 15+ years. Now I don’t expect the mask to turn everything around overnight, but after seeing great results with my face, I was hopeful that the red light therapy would make a positive difference.

The neck mask itself was easy to incorporate into my routine as I was already using a led face mask regularly. Now, depending on my outfit of the day, I sometimes had to lay the mask on under my shirt which was uncomfortable at first, but something I quickly got used to.

Brooch

You can still move around with the neck mask as it hangs securely from the neck and the controller has a clip attachment. I prefer to relax while double covering, although the neck piece makes it difficult to lower my head to read sometimes.

I’ve also tried the larger strap and worn this mask on my stomach and would definitely recommend either lying down or standing up if you plan on using it on your body. Sitting can cause the mask to bend at odd angles which can be uncomfortable, not to mention I wouldn’t want to risk damaging it!

Despite some of these quirks, I really enjoy the versatility of this mask. It’s easy and comfortable to use, even if you’re new to beauty devices.

Friendly Reminder: No antiaging product will make a difference if you don’t proactively protect your skin with sunscreen. So if you want to get the best results, be sure to lather this spf on your neck (and décolleté if exposed) daily!

Before & After

I tried the mask for 4 weeks which is the minimum time needed to start seeing results, although with the face mask I really started to notice improvements after 6 weeks.

Left is before, right after about 4 weeks

For me the biggest improvement was in skin tone, similar to the results I saw with the Series 2 face mask. Previously my neck (and to some extent décolleté) was always a shade darker than my face, but since using the neck mask the deviation is a little less noticeable.

Deep wrinkles also seem to have softened slightly, although that could also be due to the lighting difference between the 2 photos. But just the fact that I was able to notice these improvements in just 4 weeks is a great start!

Geeky Details: Red Light Benefits the Throat

We know that red light therapy works for the face — the neck is no different. It’s still leather, just a little thinner, often overlooked, and thanks to the weight and technology of the neck, it shows signs of aging faster. Here’s the quick summary:

✅ Red light 633 nm + near infrared 8300 nm (NIR)

These two work synergistically to help activate collagen and elastin production, which improves elasticity and softens the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles on the neck.2 For the neck, that means helping with structural support and tone — especially important if you notice sagging under the chin or throughout the décolleté. And for those of us who have forgotten to get the sunscreen up to our necks, these two wavelengths can also support the repair of UV-damaged skin.3

✅ 1072 nm Deep Near Infrared (Deep NIR)

This newer wavelength reaches even further into the skin, and since the neck often loses density and bounces back faster than the face, deep NIR can help strengthen the dermal layers where collagen and elastin really matter.4 One study found that when used around the delicate skin around the eyes, it helped minimize the appearance of fine lines, which is a promising sign for delicate neck skin as well.5

Finally, a study using the exact same wavelengths showed improvements in wrinkles, UV spots and brown spots, all signs of aging that we would also find on our neck and décolletage.6

Veritace test

Similar to the Series 2 face mask, the neck mask also has its own NFC card that allows you to quickly see all the tests your specific mask has passed. Testing verifies that the LED bulbs actually emit the correct wavelength so you can get the best results.

Final verdict

Advantages

  • It can be worn on different parts of the body by closing the straps

  • Easy to apply and quite comfortable to use

  • Independent testing to ensure accuracy of LED bulbs

  • The unique neck mask with 3 different wavelengths!

  • She was able to see results in just 4 weeks!

Disadvantages

  • Depending on where the mask is used, it may be more difficult to move around

  • A high upfront cost that’s only worth it if you can commit to regular use.

Ratings & Summary

As with all LED devices, you have to commit to playing the big game. But even then, I’m impressed that I’m already seeing some results in just 4 weeks and hopefully I’ll continue to see results as I continue. If you already use an LED face mask, this is such an easy addition to your routine, and unlike other beauty devices, it painlessly targets the entire neck and décolletage area. Definitely a device I’m glad to have in my rotation!
