Sometimes, some expert tips and organizational hacks made just for busy families can help you find practical strategies to overcome your home’s biggest organizational obstacles and create a space that works for you.

very organized closet // how to maximize your organizing time.

This post is not about getting a professional organizer to help you. I think this is out of most people’s budget (if it’s in yours, I think it’s a PERFECT way to help!) — but there really are other ways to help.

Cliff Notes: This will really support you in all these good ways, and above all it will get you going! Start from here.

Okay, I want to talk about 5 ways you can maximize your organizing time and how a lesson can support that.

Find out where to start

When you have one the whole house in need of organization can you be put off by the idea of where to start?

Since Organized Home is set to specific areas, it makes it very easy to just pick an area. Or just select the first area and get started.

I can also subtly remind you that “I don’t know where to start” is often the main thing your excuse for stalling — this principle anywhere it’s fine. Don’t let it stop you. Just start!

Get started!

I hate to say it, but putting in a few bucks (keep in mind you can start this course for just $9 with the code MAXIMIZE) really starts to put your money where your mouth is. That’s how long you have he said want to get started but do you really mean it?

The great news is that $9 can really help!

I also really encourage you to get started – I talk a lot about the benefits we’ve seen in ours and my students’ homes to remind you that it’s worth it.

Get your head on straight

So many people just get organized by buying a few bins or taking out everything they own — when you really need to figure out what really they want from this space.

Do you literally need it to fit A LOT of stuff (hello tiny friends, I see you — and I was 100% you for 10 years of my life with 3 small children)?

Or, you need it to be quick and easy to grab and throw back.

What do you really want from an area?

If you follow the organizers on social media, it’s easy to think that pouring things and matching the bins is the most important part — but good the class organizer will remind you of this what you want is most important.

This really it helps when you are ready to let go. You already know what you want — and you’ll prioritize them to get the most out of it!

If you just Want help decluttering, take the 5-word organization challenge — it’ll help you restore so much faster!

Get ideas!

Okay, this is the fun part — the part I LOVE following smart organizers online (no, I don’t follow the ones about gorgeous homes I’ll never own).

Getting ideas on how people organize the things we have is amazing.

Things like under sinks (a spot that’s definitely not being used), hidden storage in living rooms, or making closets work for the clothes (and shoes) you have.

It’s just nice to have so many different minds to choose from.

In The Organized Home I share problems I’ve had in areas of my home and how I’ve created systems that work and make my life easier. Sounds great, right?

The most beautiful is often not the easiest. If your goal is beauty, that’s awesome, but especially when the doors cover something from the general public, I find that functionality (and my budget) reign supreme!

I even share how I got my organizing supplies on a budget and some of my favorite places to shop for them here.

You Don’t Feel Alone

After all, many of us feel lonely organizing our home.

We may have kids who have NO desire to organize (which is normal, until they realize how much more fun it is to play when they can find what they want to use).

you just need some organized systems to get started / that's easy -- let's get started together CLICK HEREyou just need some organized systems to get started / that's easy -- let's get started together CLICK HERE

We may have a partner/spouse who is very happy with the house as it is. They may appear to sabotage systems you’ve built to make them fail. You may feel that THEY are the hardest part of organizing.

The thing is, I get it. I’ve had three kids who are not natural organizers, my husband is very messy and he really likes piles of stuff around him.

I teach you in The Organized Home how I have allowed him to both have his stacks in his space, but also to keep the house organized and functioning differently.

You’ll just feel like you have a helpful friend in the process. I know how helpful this is!

So there you have my best tips for maximizing your organizing time.

I will admit that I took it home most organized as I had 3 young children, worked as a nurse, built this website and had a heavy calling at church as well as being PTO president.

Every minute of my life was full, but I realized how much time I would ultimately save if I created systems that supported me, instead of constantly feeling like I had to support this house.

I want it for you, it’s easier than you think and just $9 will get you to The Organized Home. You can cancel 100% at any time, there is no obligation to stay — I just want you to make a change at home and I’m just sitting there waiting to help you.

It's a pleasure to be home (above a photo at home)It's a pleasure to be home (above a photo at home)

(if you don’t believe me — check out the reviews on this page — it really makes a difference for hundreds of families!).
