Light up your inbox… As we approach five years of HANX, we’re very excited to introduce some long-term changes to our sexual wellness essentials. We got it of course, vegan condoms you know and you desire and you did them Even better thanks for the kind comments. Yes, all your tweets, DMs, emails, and wink-whispered comments really help us create condoms designed with women’s pleasure and health in mind.

Why now?

We can’t believe it ourselves, but this is the first time we’ve made changes to the natural condom itself since it launched in 2017. Normally, many startups and early-stage companies go through various product phases once they’ve gone live, repeated based on comments. However, when we were about to quit our job for Johnnies, we spent many hours piling on R&D time before heading to our factories as we had to a) prove there was demand and b) be very clear about exactly what we were asking for. HANX condoms. We asked 2000 women what they wanted from their contraceptive choice and this feedback, plus our Co-Founder Dr Sarah WelshThe background of gynecology formed the basis of our pure, natural condoms.

So why are we making a change now, after five years and a lot of love for HANX condoms? Factory hair, people. Condom manufacturing batches tend to be larger in size (think thousands and thousands and thousands), so as a small business, it’s important that the improvements we make are 100% correct to avoid waste. This change coincided with a major milestone for HANX – the US launch! It was both exciting and one of the most difficult processes we have worked on so far, as condoms are a medical device and are therefore required by FDA (Food & Drug Administration) regulation to be sold in the US. This was the perfect time to re-evaluate all our ingredients and processes, to make sure our condoms serve sexuality without pain.

What changed;

  1. No fragrance
    Many aficionados may be perfumers for the added fragrance in their beauty and health products. We’ve always been serious about removing any unnecessary chemicals from our condoms, especially as we ourselves have experienced vulvar irritation, pain and negative reactions to mainstream condoms. (Also, some people just don’t like the smells when they approach it at all). Where our original formula was cleanly scented with minimal fragrance ingredients, we’ve removed that completely, so there’s no added fragrance at all. If you’ve found that mainstream condoms with funky or strong scents cause UTIs, try making switch to our super sensitive condoms.
  2. Better size
    Size really does matter – when it comes to safe sex. It’s important to wear the right condom size for many reasons, starting with comfort. Using a condom that is too tight makes it more likely to break, or be painful and uncomfortable and may even prevent you from using condoms in the future. Too loose and you run the risk of it rolling back or coming out in the middle of sex. The correct condom size will ensure that you and your partner are protected against pregnancy and/or STDs.
    It’s no surprise that penis size and the perfect condom (also the name of our new book) is a hot topic in our inbox, and after a lot of research, we’ve adjusted our size according to your dreams to be slightly larger and in both types of condoms. HANX condoms now measure:
    – Standard: Nominal width = 53 mm, Length = 185 mm.
    – Large Size: Nominal Width = 56mm, Length = 195mm.

What hasn’t changed?

We are still vegan certified.

Without casein. No beeswax. Our condoms are certified by the Vegan Society, meaning we do not use animal by-products in these products. It’s also cruelty-free and we never test on animals. Promise.

We still have CE certification.
Peace of mind guaranteed. HANX condoms are CE-verified and rigorously tested to ensure maximum safety and are also FDA approved.

We are still focused on being as sustainable as possible.
We reduced energy consumption, chemical cargo and waste. Our condoms are made from responsibly sourced and marketed latex and our outer boxes are made from recyclable cardboard.

What do you think;

Whether you live in the UK or the US, give us a try and let us know what you think of our new and improved condoms. Any questions, send us an email to our Customer Care team or drop into our DMs.
