Women Fitness President Ms. Namita Nayyar meets Valentina Bìssoli – an extremely talented and accomplished internationally recognized Italian model and actress. Here she talks about her remarkable journey – starting her career at 17, representing Italian beauty at the 2019 Grammy Awards, the landmark #myconfidentbeauty campaign with Yamamay promoting natural beauty without retouching, and advocating for models’ rights through Law4Model.
Namita Nayar:
You have been defined as a “visual monument” of modern fashion and the modern heir of iconic Italian beauties like Monica Bellucci. How does it feel to bring this heritage and how do you personally define the essence of “Mediterranean beauty” in today’s fashion world?
Valentina Bissoli:
It’s certainly a great legacy and some things change your life forever, especially for me who grew up in a country village and now I’m seen as an almost unattainable entity. There are two implications of the coin to consider… beauty has definitely helped me a lot and I am grateful for how I was born, I was very lucky. Pleasant physical appearance surrounds you with superficial or insecure people who are eager to put you down. It forces you to constantly defend yourself from those who see you as an object or a trophy.
You are under pressure to always be flawless, without the right to a day of fragility. At the end of the day, true luck is not so much being born with a “perfect” face, but having the head and maturity to not be destroyed by that same beauty. It’s not always easy because behind the spotlight, even for people who were born lucky, the search for happiness and genuine affection is a struggle like for everyone.

Namita Nayar:
In an age dominated by digital filters and artificial trends, you chose to support 100% natural beauty. What inspired this commitment and what message does it send to an industry often criticized for promoting unattainable standards?
Valentina Bissoli:
I’m glad to be a supporter of this beauty, especially today when almost all young girls resort to plastic surgery to change the concepts. I see an impressive face approval. I’m not against surgery if it’s done with criteria.
But today something is getting out of control, especially with the constant and sometimes destructive reflection of social media. Fashion has become very accessible to everyone on the other hand and many more girls feel qualified to do this work. But the reality of events is not like that.
