April 22nd is Earth Day, one of our absolute favorite days of the year πŸŽ‰

But let’s be real, at Woohoo we treat every day like it’s Earth Day.

We’re passionate about creating amazingly effective products that make you feel amazing, without compromising our precious planet. And we’ve been busy with the bees on our eco-friendly mission! 🐝

Today we spill the beans on our initiatives to save the planet and how we plan to do better.

And hey, we might even break down where to score the world’s most delicious vegan Cronut if you’re lucky (that’s a croissant mixed with a donut for those playing at home).

Let’s take a look behind the green curtains, shall we?

OUR IMPACT

♻️ Plastic Negative Superstars

We have earned Plastic Negative Certification by partnering with rePurpose Global to remove and recover 2x the plastic waste our products create. Plastic Free or Beyond Net Zero Plastic Footprint? Betcha!

🌱 Guru of ecological packaging

We use sustainable and biodegradable materials wherever possible, because Mama Nature deserves the best.

βœ”οΈ We believe in keeping it simple, which is why our packaging is intentionally minimalistic. Most of our products do not require any additional packaging, and if they do, they are fully recyclable.

βœ”οΈ We ship all orders plastic free using FSC certified materials and home compostable materials with no unnecessary waste (those little packaged ‘peanuts’ in the photo below are made from corn and dissolve in water!).

βœ”οΈ We use FSC-certified cardboard tubes for lip balms and deodorants, printed with plant-based inks, so they’re home compostable and recyclable.

βœ”οΈ The large selection of skin and hair refills feature aluminum screw caps instead of plastic pumps/sprayers, further reducing plastic waste.

βœ”οΈ Plastic bottles, who? We’re all about aluminum bottles and tubes for maximum recyclability. Go green team!

We never settle for “good enough” and are always working to up our packaging game. Every time we launch something, we put it through its paces to make sure it’s the best it can be for you AND the planet.

🐰 Vegan and cruelty-free champions

No animals are harmed in the making of our products – just showered with love, kindness and lots of pampering! Our planet-friendly, Australian-made deodorant, skincare and haircare formulas are certified Cruelty Free and Vegan by PETA and certified Cruelty Free and Vegan by Safe Cosmetics Australia. Sense? Our products use absolutely no animal derivatives and are only tested on willing humans. As it should be!

🌿 Return with 1% for the Planet

We are all about sharing the love, donating to environmental and social causes close to our hearts. Through 1% for the planetwe recently had the pleasure of contributing to these rockstar organizations:

βœ”οΈ Carbon Positive Australia: Restoring landscapes and tackling climate change like champions.

βœ”οΈ OzHarvest: Saving excess food from the bin and filling hungry bellies.

βœ”οΈ Humane Society International Australia: We stand up for furry (and not so furry) friends and conservation.

βœ”οΈ ThreadTogether: Playing fashion fairy, giving new clothes to those who need them most.

βœ”οΈ Children’s Playground: Helping First Nations communities shoot for the stars.

βœ”οΈ KKT (The Karrkad Kanjdji Trust): Preserving indigenous culture and biodiversity like a boss.

βœ”οΈ And let’s not forget our local heroes! We are always happy to participate by donating to various nearby causes, boosting fundraising and spreading smiles all around.

πŸ’¦ Natural, toxin-free, low-waste formulas

Our fantastic formulas are created using the highest quality pure, natural, vegan ingredients with a dollop of organic goodness. This means they are both gentle on your skin and the earth.

βœ”οΈ Every ingredient is ethically sourced from suppliers who prioritize fair working conditions and environmentally friendly practices.

βœ”οΈ We adhere to the International Nomenclature of Cosmetic Ingredients (INCI) standard, ensuring that there are no hidden harms in our products.

βœ”οΈ We’re big fans of Fair Trade Certified ingredients like coconut and MCT oils, supporting farms with top-notch agricultural practices.

βœ”οΈ Our website has 100% complete and accurate ingredient lists so you’ll always know what’s in our products.

βœ”οΈ We seek to minimize H2O by concentrating our products or creating wonders without water. Why send water around the world when we don’t have to?

βœ‹High five for teamwork

We all want to create a warm, fuzzy and super-inclusive team environment where everyone feels at home – and, of course, has a blast!

βœ”οΈ Our team is a beautiful kaleidoscope of sneaks from all kinds of backgrounds, cultures and life stories (because, hey, variety makes the world go round, right?).

βœ”οΈ We roll out the red carpet for our team, offering them fair pay, leave and competitive benefits – because they’re all superstars in our eyes!

βœ”οΈ We always make sure to adhere to our company policies, reflecting our commitment to diversity, inclusion and ensuring a positive, welcoming and safe workplace for all.

βœ”οΈ We intend to continue to learn and grow together, with ongoing training and workshops on interesting topics such as inclusion and ace communication skills to promote open dialogue and empathy among our team members.

Now that’s the kind of workplace that makes us beam with pride! 😎

πŸ’š Minimizing our footprint

We are on a mission to tread lightly by constantly finding ways to minimize our footprint on this beautiful planet, one eco-conscious step at a time.

βœ”οΈ We source our ingredients from local Austrian suppliers and provide local jobs.

βœ”οΈ We proudly donate to Carbon Positive Australia, planting native trees and shrubs to boost biodiversity and balance our carbon impact with some leafy love.

βœ”οΈ Say hello to glass bottles and jars and say hello to lightweight, highly recyclable aluminum packaging (easier on the environment to transport and 100% recyclable).

βœ”οΈ Our fun-filled factory is equipped with energy-efficient lighting and appliances to keep things green.

βœ”οΈ We have a fancy Recycling Program – check it out here

βœ”οΈ Our warehouse is a recycling wonderland where boxes and filling materials are reused so nothing goes to waste.

βœ”οΈ We recycle wizards, find clever new purposes for factory containers like drums and large buckets – because every object deserves a second act

βœ”οΈ We’ve helped 1.2 million armpits transition to plastic-free armpits! Think of all those plastic bottles that won’t end up in the landfill. Ask!

❌ No shady stuff

Our plant-based filters, created by our in-house cosmetic chemist (say hi, Aaron! πŸ‘‹), are engineered to be highly effective, packed with only the cream of the crop ingredients.

And guess what? You won’t find questionable things in our products, such as mineral oils, parabens, sulfates, synthetic fragrances, animal derivatives, ingredients tested on animals, artificial colors, bleaches (eg benzoyl peroxide), aluminum salts, propylene glycol, triclosan , harsh detergents, triethanolamine (TEA)…

… and the “no-no” list goes on! So you can feel great knowing you’re using clean, green, ultra-gentle formulas that do a world of good.

COMMUNICATING INTO THE FUTURE…

We don’t stop there. As we grow older, we commit to doing more for our big, beautiful planet.

βœ”οΈ We dream big and aim to become a certified B-Corp. This means that we would undermine the highest standards of social and environmental performance that a business can currently achieve.

βœ”οΈ We’ll continue to expand our plastic-free horizons by diving deep into the world of skin and hair care wonders (because who doesn’t love a good zero-waste innovation, right?)

βœ”οΈ We are planning to switch to solar energy for our operations

βœ”οΈ Our goal is to be 100% carbon offset by 2026. It’s a big claim, but one we feel confident we can handle as we grow.

So, as you can see, we are on an epic quest to become a truly green and sustainable brand. Sure, we’re not perfect (who is, right?), but we all want to improve and level up!

And you know what? None of this would be possible without YOU!

So here’s a huge THANK YOU for having our back and helping make the world greener, happier!

We promise to keep you, our amazing customers and community, in the loop along the way.

Well done for loving our planet and making every day Earth Day πŸ₯³

POSTSCRIPT. We are committed to being open and honest about our sustainability journey. We know we’re not perfect, but we’re always trying to do better. And we want you to join us on this journey! If you have any feedback or ideas about how we can improve our packaging or sustainability efforts, please contact us at crew@woohoobody.com.au. We are all ears!
