Inspired by her own journey into motherhood, Keeley Furlong turned her deep love of nurturing, connection and early development into Wellness of the Wildflowers – a business with a heart dedicated to supporting parents and babies through baby massage, yoga, relaxation and community. What started as a spark during maternity leave has blossomed into a thriving space where families are encouraged to slow down, bond deeply and embrace the beauty of early parenthood. Rooted in connection, compassion and calmness, Wellness of the Wildflowers helps parents discover the transformative power of touch, presence and love. Here, Keeley talks to The Natural Parent Magazine about the passion behind what she does, how she balances work and family, the pros and cons of running her own business, and her hopes and dreams for the future.

The passion: What inspired you to create your business?

Simple – baby! After having my son William six years ago, I fell in love with these beautiful baby classes, learning new ways to encourage and support his development, watching him learn and thrive while feeling the joy of this shared experience. When maternity leave ended, returning to the corporate world was a difficult adjustment.

Three years later, my daughter Wren arrived, and again I was so grateful for the precious time we had to bond and bond. I learned how biologically connected we are to our babies and how important those first moments are. With Ren planned to be my last baby, I was soaking up all the little moments I could. I took baby massage classes with her and once again we loved it. But the thought of returning to corporate life filled me with dread, and this time I decided to do something about it… besides cry.

One day, I was talking to another mom friend from our baby massage class. He suggested I train to become an instructor. Something ignited in me there. That night, I started researching and before I knew it, I had signed up for a full diploma – baby massage, baby yoga, heuristic play practitioner, settlement and calmness consultant, pregnancy relaxation and baby confidence teacher.

From the beginning of my studies, I felt like a whole new world opened up. A connection, remembrance and empowerment. It broadened my understanding of all the wonderful benefits baby massage would have on my own children. Although, I admit, I didn’t know the science behind baby massage at the time I was taking the classes with William and Wren. This fueled me even more to want other parents to know what it is all The baby really needs them – their love, nourishment and attentive presence.

I would (and still can) talk for hours to anyone on topics from the biology of conception, maternal nutrition in pregnancy, the importance of a mother feeling nurtured and a smooth transition from womb to world in the fourth trimester – a time that has a lifelong impact on a child’s well-being.

And so, with passion running through me in full force, Wellness of the Wildflowers was born One baby step at a time, my skills grew, my confidence blossomed and my village began to form.

The launch: How did you get started in the first place?

I started by doing what I do best: talking to people. I started conversations everywhere, told friends, neighbors, shopkeepers and mums at school all about my free taster sessions. I invited parents and babies to experience the beauty of baby massage, then yoga and then one-on-one pregnancy relaxation sessions. I offered for free, gathered feedback and built trust – one family at a time. I created a space that wasn’t just about learning techniques, but about feeling contained, visible and connected.

Innovation: What has been the biggest breakthrough for you with your business?

My biggest breakthroughs aren’t just milestones on paper. For me, breakthroughs happen in the small, everyday moments. They happen every time I reserve space. Every time I see a parent look into their baby’s eyes, every time new friendships are formed between like-minded parents who realize they are not alone. I see it when a mother beams with joy when she learns a new technique that works and is simple and innate. A technique that has a profound impact on their baby’s nervous system, development and sense of security.

I feel it in the moments when a parent exhales, lets go and just… it is. When someone shares a release, a cry, a story and knows it is held without judgment. When a circle of mothers pass the baby wipes and love around the room. When we share a mug, a laugh and raw honesty conversations.

It is a breakthrough when the parents invite more people into the space, growing the village. And that’s why I now offer not only pregnancy relaxation, but also mommy relaxation sessions. When we nurture the parent, we nurture the village, and when we nurture the village, we can change the world.

Ultimately, my biggest innovation is recognizing that its magic Wellness of the Wildflowers it is in these micro-moments. They are what truly transform the experience of early parenthood.

Yin and Yang: How do you balance work and family?

With two young children, school runs, daycare drop-outs, self-care, food and the gentle chaos of everyday life, I’ve learned that balance doesn’t just happen – it’s something I consciously and lovingly create.

Wellness of the Wildflowers it started with a promise to myself that my family would always come first. Mother Teresa said, “If you want to change the world, go home and love your family,” and those words have stuck with me, so that’s what I’m doing. I am home more than I hold space for others. We keep our days as down to earth and natural as possible, with Sundays being the ‘non-negotiable non-working day’. Sundays are our family day of late mornings, exploring the outdoors, laughter, food and fellowship.

Starting in the fall, I will only be teaching during term time so that I can be fully present during the school holidays with my children. I limit the evening one-on-one sessions so I can be home most nights to read them a bedtime story and tickle their heads until they fall asleep.

Big events and monthly workshops are something we share as a family. My kids love helping me create a baby lesson, try out new heuristic play sets, roll out yoga mats, or name the new mannequin I bought.

Wellness of the Wildflowers it’s not just my job. it’s my way of life. It is woven into our everyday moments, the way we play, communicate and grow together.
