My puppy Milo deplores excess vitamin A in his diet. As someone who doesn’t have children, my dog is my family. After working with clients from all over the world for over 12+ years in my nutrition practice, a common finding I see in trials is that people are overdosing on vitamin A, a fat-soluble vitamin that is stored in the body and does not leave easily. if you take too much. It hangs around and sinks your liver. This is from eating too much dairy/liver/eggs, eating too many brightly colored vegetables (think sweet potatoes, carrots, red peppers, etc.), topical…
In a recent study published in the journal PLoS One, researchers investigated the efficacy of lavender essential oils in suppressing atopic dermatitis (AD) using an AD cell line. They didn’t just establish the anti-AD benefits Lavandula essential oils of the genus and its derivative, linalyl acetate, but they did so without the need for human clinical trials or animal testing. They further established the non-sensitizing nature of the essential oil, highlighting its potential as a stand-alone or adjunctive suppressor of AD-induced skin pruritus. Mosquitoes are one of the biggest mosquitoes of the summer! We all love spending time outside, but it’s impossible to escape bites during your picnic, outdoor concert or trip to the park. When bugs bite, our instinct is to grab the nearest bottle of bug repellent and sink into a layer of protection. And for good reason: not only are bites itchy and unsightly, mosquitoes can also carry diseases like West Nile virus and Zika virus. Blindly choosing your repellent, however, can be just as dangerous to your health as the bug bite itself. That’s because over 500(!) EPA-registered bug…
Fans of the cultural phenomenon “Love Island” they know the term “the ick” well. My awful stupidity affected me so much that it prompted me to go stand out on the ledge of a mountain, look at nature, honor my life, and ask someone to take a picture of it. Copyright: rdonar Hahahaha. Just kidding. I didn’t do this shit. This is just a random image that I hoped would give a sense of scope and grandeur…
E-cigarettes are more effective for smoking cessation than conventional nicotine replacement therapy
Nicotine e-cigarettes are more effective at helping people quit smoking than conventional nicotine replacement therapy (NRT), according to the latest Cochrane review, led by a University of Massachusetts Amherst public health and policy researcher. The review of studies published in Cochrane Database of Systematic Reviews found high-certainty evidence that e-cigarettes, which allow users to “vape” nicotine instead of smoking it, lead to a better chance of quitting than patches, gum, lozenges or other traditional NRTs. In England, quite unlike the rest of the world, e-cigarettes have been adopted by public health services as a tool to help people reduce…
