7 Ways We Are An Environmentally Friendly Business

In the Eminence Organic Skin Care, we truly believe that every day is Earth Day. As we celebrate the greenest month of the year, we also celebrate the 25 million trees planted to date through Forests for the Futureâ„¢ initiative. In addition to planting a tree for every product sold, we also honor our commitment to finding earth-friendly solutions in every aspect of our business. From our green office space in Vancouver, Canada to our sustainable farming practices in Hungary, being green is at the heart of what we do.

If you’ve ever wondered how our company stays environmentally conscious and adopts environmentally friendly practices, here’s an overview of what we do to make every day Earth Day.

Eminence Organics Eco-Friendly Initiatives

1. We plant a tree for every product sold!

Eminence Organics, in collaboration with Trees for the future, plants a tree for every retail skin care product sold, allowing us to support communities in developing countries. The Forests for the Futureâ„¢ initiative helps train farmers to build productive and sustainable crops and farms. This helps local communities grow their own food and create sustainable incomes for their families. Our program has resulted in the planting of trees in more than 22 countries around the world as well as supporting countless communities and families.

Amazingly, a single tree can produce about 260 kg of oxygen per year. Trees help reduce air temperatures to combat climate change while stabilizing soil by preventing erosion through their roots. They also contribute to soil fertility by fixing nitrogen and increasing water infiltration.

2. The Green Spa Program

The Green Spa Program rewards businesses that actively support the green movement and inspire others to do more in their spas and salons. Spa businesses must meet 60% of our green requirements to be recognized as an Eminence Organics Green Spa. Some of the requirements include choosing reusable or biodegradable options whenever possible, using power outlets in treatment areas and office areas, and turning them off when equipment is not in use. Spas should also establish a recycling awareness program in spas and use natural, non-toxic, biodegradable cleaning products instead of chemical-based products.

To learn more about what we ask of our Green Spas, you can read our Green Spa Requirements. You can also find a certified Eminence Green Spa near you by using the Spa Locator and filtering only our Green Spas.

3. Proud to be a certified B Corporation®

As the first Canadian professional skin care company to be certified as a B Corporation®, we have met the highest standards for overall social and environmental performance, transparency and accountability. Certified B corporations are businesses that work toward corporate responsibility that balances profit and purpose. This certification measures a company’s entire social and environmental performance with the Impact Assessment B which assesses how a company’s operations and business model affect its employees, community, environment and customers.

4. Eco-Friendly Packaging: Retail boxes

Our retail boxes are printed with eco-friendly inks and are made from recyclable material, while the majority of marketing materials are made with FSC certified materials. FSC identifies products that are made from 100% virgin material from FSC certified forests. These labels give you an assurance that the product you are buying is made from responsible sources and has been verified to meet FSC’s strict environmental and social standards.

5. Green Company, Green Building

As a growing company, we have upgraded to a larger head office to enhance our award-winning service to our Spa partners. When we expanded our eco-friendly office, we never forgot our commitment as a green company. Instead of constructing a new building, we expanded on the existing building next door, thereby reducing our carbon footprint. Looking at our office today, the space uses natural light with large windows and multiple skylights for greater energy efficiency. Our floors are covered with carpet tiles made from 60% recycled materials and our office walls are decorated with non-toxic paints with low VOC chemicals. We use energy efficient appliances such as refrigerators, dishwashers, microwave ovens and eight LED TVs. Other solutions include LED lights that work with eco-friendly timers and motion sensors, as well as the ability to sort waste, including a section for compostable materials.

Sustainable shipping materials by Eminence Organics

6. Sustainable Shipping Materials & Sugar Sheet Paper

When it comes to our shipping materials, even the paper we use in our office, we turn first to natural plant sources. We use a combination of biodegradable popcorn packaging and unbleached kraft paper when shipping our products. Our packaged popcorn is made from biodegradable potato or corn starch that dissolves in water as a non-toxic and non-hazardous waste. In the office we use sugar sheets on the printers. These edible leaves are made from 100% natural sugarcane fiber residues that help preserve forests and reduce greenhouse gases.

7. Eminence Organics paper bag

We are pleased to inform you about the redesigned Eminence Organics paper bag. In keeping with our commitment to environmental responsibility, the bag’s handles are made from woven paper, ensuring the entire bag is 100% recyclable and biodegradable. In addition, the non-conical design of the bag offers more convenience and convenience for you when carrying your products. Traditionally, carrier bags with rope handles have used cotton or polyester, which hinders recycling efforts due to potential contamination in the recycling chain.

As a company, we are inspired every day by the creative ways others are taking proactive action to make our planet a happier and healthier place. We are also very proud to say that our business partners, Spa loyalists and Eminence Organics fans are all doing their part for the green movement.

In what ways are you keeping our planet green, healthy and happy? Tell us in the comments below.
