While fresh food is always ideal, packaged foods are not all bad. Here is a list of healthy packaged foods for kids that my own, now aged 6 and 12, love!
Initially I published this position in 2019, when Birch was just over a year and Mazen was seven! I thought it was due to an update, since the boys are now 6 and 12. Their preferences have been transformed over the years and there are new healthy packaged products we enjoy!
Here was life then:
But back to food!
Ideally, children eat a lot of fresh real foods.
Fresh fruit, whole grains, dairy, vegetables (I try!), Proteins. It is funny how it is contrary when it comes to food prefixes.
- Birch: loves fruit, few vegetables, It will not eat any meat!
- Blackened: Large protein eating (sardines! Smoked oysters!), Well in vegetables, It will not eat any fruit!
- Both Love ice cream, milk, yogurt and all grains (such as oatmeal or muffins!)
I always try to use fresh foods before I arrive for freezers or backups. Firstly, because I want to use what could be spoiled, but secondly, because I think fresh food is better. Taking, sometimes fresh food runs low and kids still have to feed! These are 20 excellent options for healthy packaged foods for kids I rely on when my fridge is looking naked.

1. Frozen waffles
Frozen waffles have always been a go-to. We used them on the left when Birch was a baby because he was small and easy to grab. And now we like protein waffles from whole food. Yes, there is butter and syrup. These are a key to the breakfast of the school day.
2. Pancakes
We love Kodiak cake In this house! Everyone eats them. The butter flavor has always been my favorite. These are a go-to weekends when we make a big lot for everyone (if you don’t have a mixture, you can try pancakes with the wheat sheet!).
3. Frozen pizza
My kids have always loved pizza! This is one that we have served in Mazen for years due to the extra spinach (warning: Gives children breathing garlic!). Birch prefers simple cheese. I can’t win everything!
4. Nuggets of chicken
None of my boys have ever been great eating. Not because I’m more cute than thou but just don’t go nuts for them as other kids do. I have tried many different kinds! A friend of mine recommended this brand and has some whole grains and whole grains for a little boost. I used it more when the boys were younger, but I keep it on the list!
5. Ready pasta and basically all pasta
Birch is made of pasta – it is his favorite food. We cook the top of the stove most of the time, but I found it in Wegmans (most of the foods of this post come from whole foods). It is simply pre-coated and empty-full of pasta that you heat in the microwave. It was amazing how fast the pasta was ready with not a plate! I added butter and parmesan. Pesto works and if your kids like it. Or red sauce, of course.

6 Mac and cheese
We love Annie’s products, and their Mac and cheese are a favorite fan. The ingredients are simple and have a variety of styles. We particularly love the Added varieties of protein called Super Mac.
7. Freeze dried fruits + vegetables
Race, strawberries, cranberries, pea! Dried foods are ideal for lunch box and / or if you run low in fresh (or if it is out of season / crazy expensive).
8. Ramen + Quick Noodles
Now that Mazen is big enough to do some basic cooking, we have explored the world of noodles and Ramen. He is a fan of Fly by Jing Noodles, and this is great if we need a “children’s dinner” for him.
9.
My kids are not huge Granola eaters but we like Clif z bars For kids (and wegman’s hit), and these oats and chocolate from whole foods. They go on a kick to like a particular bar and then get sick of them. Birch loves Batry Valley barsalso! He calls them “fragile bar”, haha.
10.
My kids go gaga for fruit snacks, but we only buy them sometimes. We have these strips more often for a very quick energy choice. I like organic from whole food or these rich south forty. I often get to them as a snack before training!
11
Of course – the young child basic. These were on the list in 2019 and are still on the list because it is a great way for selective eaters to get the diet. We still use Veggie pockets for B as a way to get green in it (along with green smoothies).
12. Popcorn microwave
A great choice after school that everyone likes! So easy they can diy.
13. Apple sauce
Classic package snacks unless you have time to make soft cinnamon apples!
14. Yogurt of all kinds
My kids should be snobbish because noosa is their favorite yogurt! But they like simple and vanilla. Birch also likes the little yogurt drinks from Stonyfield.
15. Tortilla chips
Although you may not place them in the “healthy” category, I think tortilla chips are better than most (like Takis Mazen always tries to get me to buy – eek!). We eat a lot of tortilla chips here (I include) and these Zack’s strong chips It’s very thick and so crisp!
16.
Unanimously loved by adults and children!
17 cereals
I think milk cereals are a great snack kid! Small carbohydrates, small protein from milk. Our children tend to like more basic cereals such as cheerios, oatmeal squares, or chex against all mixed or sugary out there. I am looking for cereals with minimal added sugar.
18. Crakers
We make peanut butter for birch or occasionally buy cheddar or golden fish bunnies to satisfy a salty longing or when we need some individually wrapped snacks for an event.
19.
Adding this to the list, although none of my own are huge eating. Because it must be! We always have a mixture of trails and nuts in hand. For the longer time, if Mazen asked for a sleep snack, I would offer him almonds and carrots because he is a bit of a boring snack. A test to see if he was really hungry. I love the mixture of trails in snack packages for easy kidnapping and go.
20.
Risky It’s Mazen’s favorite snack! While it is expensive, I know it gets a healthy protein and made with grass -fed beef.
If you need a small help event for your children, check this position for some of the bins we have and love to disconnect and keep the snacks easy to reach: the favorite of the closet organization.
