It’s the dawn of a new year and living healthy everyday should be one of your main goals. Living healthy everyday is the surest way to ensure a healthy life, now and in the future.

Maintaining good health is an ongoing process that requires a combination of proper nutrition, exercise and self-care.

Although it can be difficult to fit healthy habits into a busy schedule, the benefits are worth it.

In this article, we’ll explore a list of practical and easy health tips that you can incorporate into your daily routine to improve your overall well-being.

10 Health Tips that you should follow every day

Below are some of the health tips that you should follow every day this new year.

1. Eat a balanced diet

Food is an essential factor for healthy living. You must eat a balanced diet every day if you want to live a healthy life.

A balanced diet is one that includes a variety of different types of food in the right proportions, providing the body with the nutrients it needs to function properly.

It is important to include a range of foods from all food groups to get a balance of nutrients.

Every day, try to eat foods rich in protein, nuts, carbohydrates, whole grains, and healthy fats.

Additionally, increase your intake of fresh fruits and vegetables. As an adult, eat at least five portions (400g) of fruit and vegetables every day. Vary the fruits and vegetables. don’t stick to just one type.

2. Drink safe water

It’s not just proper hydration and regular water consumption. is the water safe?

Drinking unsafe water can cause you to develop water-borne diseases such as diarrhoea, typhoid, cholera and hepatitis A.

According to WHEREat least 2 billion people worldwide drink from water sources contaminated with faeces. Check your water source. If you are unsure of the safety of the water source, boil the water before drinking.

3. Eat less salt and sugar

Salt and sugar are healthy only when taken in the recommended amount.

Too much salt puts you at risk of high blood pressure, while too much sugar increases the risk of unhealthy weight gain and tooth decay.

Limit your intake of salty foods and high-sugar snacks.

4. Protect your mental health

Your mental health is an important aspect of your overall health and well-being. It plays a role in how you think, feel and behave.

A vital health tip to follow every day is to protect or prioritize your mental health. And you can do this by taking care of your emotional, psychological and social well-being.

Take steps to protect your mental health on a daily basis.

This may include practicing stress management techniques, cutting out toxic people, engaging in activities that bring joy and relaxation, and seeking support from friends, family or a mental health professional when needed.

5. Be physically active

Physical activity includes exercise and activities performed at work, engaging in recreational hobbies, and playing.

The amount of physical activity you should do depends on your age. Adults aged 18-64 are recommended to do at least 150 minutes of moderate-intensity physical activity per week.

Here is the recommended one physical activity sheet for different age groups from WHO.

6. Proper hand washing

Hand hygiene is critical for everyone, not just healthcare workers. Wash your hands before and after eating, after using the toilet and after touching public surfaces.

Cleaning your hands limits the spread of infectious diseases. For effectiveness, wash your hands with running water and soap or scrub your palms using an alcohol-based product.

Also, try to maintain good personal hygiene.

7. Get enough sleep and rest

Another important health tip to follow every day is to ensure that you get quality sleep and rest every day.

Getting enough sleep and rest is a good habit to follow every day because it has many benefits for physical and mental health.

Getting 7 to 9 hours of quality sleep daily can improve your mood, boost your metabolism, boost your immune system, and increase your productivity.

8. Regular medical checks

Regular medical checkups are an important part of maintaining good health.

They can help identify potential health problems early, when they are often easier to treat.

Observing changes in your body and health can also help you stay up-to-date on any necessary check-ups or vaccinations and can give you an opportunity to discuss any concerns or questions you may have with your healthcare provider.

9. Maintain social relationships

Another crucial health tip to follow every day is to maintain daily social relationships with people.

As humans, we have the basic human need of connection with others. It helps us fight depression.

Depression is a growing disease worldwide, with about 280 million people were affected.

Depression manifests itself in different ways. it can appear in the form of hopelessness, extreme sadness or anxiety.

Although it seems harmless at first, it can be life-threatening if left untreated. Life activities and issues such as work pressure, school stress, financial problems, relationship issues and divorce can cause depression.

Learn to open up to a friend, family or medical staff when you’re feeling down.

10. Meditate

Meditation is a healthy habit to do every day because it can have a positive impact on both your mental and physical well-being.

Meditation can help reduce stress, improve concentration and focus, and increase self-awareness by allowing you to observe your thoughts and feelings without judgment.

In addition, meditation can help promote relaxation by calming the mind and body as well as improving sleep.

Conclusion

Follow and practice the above healthy tips daily if you want to live healthy this year and beyond. Remember this health is wealth.
