Pizzas are a great dinner to use up leftover ingredients in the fridge. Plus it’s pizza! Enjoy delicious, fresh fall figs in this easy prosciutto fig pizza. It makes a great dinner for someone who feels special, with limited effort.

Start the Prosciutto Fig Pizza with store-bought single-serving homemade pizza dough, OR naan bread, then it will only take 15-20 minutes. This Prosciutto Fig Pizza is a quick and easy pizza dinner, which is always a good idea.

Enjoy this pizza on its own, share as an appetizer, or add a side to it. Side options are listed below the recipe instructions.

Components

Scroll down on the Prosciutto Fig Pizza recipe card for the amounts of each ingredient, but here’s a quick visual + description of what’s in this recipe.

ingredients for pizza with fig and prosciutto on a tableingredients for pizza with fig and prosciutto on a table
  • Pizza Dough/Platobread: Use what you have. With at least 40 minutes (mostly resting time), you can make your own single-serving pizza dough.
  • Fresh figs: While figs are very tasty on this pizza, you can also use apple slices or pear slices if it’s not fig season or you just don’t want them
  • Prosciutto
  • Goat Cheese: You can substitute traditional mozzarella, but creamy goat cheese is so good with figs.
  • Green Bell Pepper: Use any type of pepper, but I like this less sweet pepper to pair with the figs and slightly sweet goat cheese.
  • Optional “Sauces”: Maple syrup, balsamic glaze and honey all make a great drizzle after the pizza is baked. Since this pizza has no sauce, I recommend one of these to finish off the pizza.

Storage/Reheating Tips

Store leftover prosciutto fig pizza in an airtight container in the refrigerator for about a week. Reheat in microwave or broiler.

I would not recommend freezing this pizza as the figs would get very moldy.

Substitutions/Tips

  • Use pita, naan or pre-cooked pizza crust to save time. You can also buy pizza dough or make your own. Here is my favorite recipe for homemade pizza dough.
  • We divide the cheese first, the order of the rest of the ingredients is not so important.
  • Use either black or green figs, depending on availability and price. You can also replace the fresh figs with fig jam.
  • Use any color of pepper for this recipe.
  • If you have a grill, cook your pizza directly on the grill. It’s so close to pizza oven pizza without the pizza oven! You can also use a pizza stone for a crispy crust.
  • Other great extras: fresh mozzarella, black or red pepper flakes, other seasonal toppings like zucchini, corn, fresh rocket, etc. they are good on a prosciutto and fig pizza.

FAQ

What kind of cheese goes on fig and prosciutto pizza?

I recommend using goat cheese in this prosciutto fig pizza recipe. You can also use mozzarella cheese on it.

Is prosciutto good on pizza?

Prosciutto is great on pizza, it gives you a nice crunch and saltiness. It’s faster than using bacon, it doesn’t need to be pre-cooked to add to the pizza. Look at the other pizza recipes in the section above, some have prosciutto.

When are figs in season?

Figs have a short season, generally from August to October in the United States. They are hard to find in the off season. So buy them when you see them!
