I am very excited to introduce you to a brand new product from my newest collaborators Magnum Essentials this will allow you to enhance the taste, texture and protein content of your next cup of coffee.

Come across ÄRA – a protein powder designed for use in hot coffee.

My regular readers will know me as someone who has spent a lot of time researching and writing about numerous health benefits of moderate coffee intake.

Today, I will explore some of the scientific and thankfully human benefits of incorporating this product into your daily routine.

The exploration will include:

  1. An introduction to the ÄRA product range
  2. A discussion of the role of protein-fortified coffee
  3. My views on who the ideal ÄRA user might be

Let’s go!

An introduction to ÄRA

ÄRA offers you the opportunity to easily and pleasantly add 10 grams of high-quality hydrolyzed whey protein in your coffee or other hot breakfast items such as espresso, tea, matcha or even in your morning oats!!

Hydrolyzed whey, for those who may not know, is a pure protein that is among the fastest digesting and highest quality forms.

Since the lactose is removed during the filtration process, hydrolyzed whey is an excellent choice for those who do not tolerate it well.

ÄRA comes in 5 epic flavors:

  • Vanilla
  • Mocha
  • Caramel
  • Hazel
  • Natural – technically not a “flavor”, for those who want their protein to have a neutral flavor profile.

Blending ÄRA into your coffee will add a creamy sweetness that dissolves smoothly and without lumps.

ÄRA also checks a number of boxes in terms of dietary restrictions and preferences.

These include being:

  • Gluten free
  • Sugarless
  • This is friendly
  • Non-GMO

So far so good right?

And we haven’t even gotten to the protein part yet.

The role of protein-fortified coffee

Statistically speaking, most people drink coffee most days and often consume more than one cup a day.

Personally, I’m most likely to drink coffee at the beginning and middle of my day.

Many people drink coffee during these windows and often combine it with a meal or snack.

The dietitian in me knows that, for the vast majority of my clients, post-meal satiety at these times of the day is paramount.

The best way to ensure that a snack or meal is filling is to ensure that it contains significant amounts of fiber and protein.

Studies have shown that a modest boost in protein content (~12 grams in this study) of one’s afternoon snack has the potential to reduce afternoon hunger, the time until the next meal, and the amount consumed at dinner.

It’s clear that we can’t underestimate the value of extra protein in a meal or snack, and those looking for more satiety at these times of the day are obvious candidates ÄRA in their routine.

Who will benefit most from this product?

As a nutritionist who is quite familiar with the average daily routine, I have a strong sense of who can benefit the most from using a product like ÄRA.

Here are some of the characteristics that make you a good candidate, in my opinion.

Drink coffee or other hot drinks regularly at mealtimes or snacks

The extra 10 grams of protein per serving will improve the satiety value of your meal/snack.

For those looking for an even bigger amount of protein, doubling up is always an option!

You have moderate to high daily protein goals that you are struggling to meet

Whether you’re an athlete, an active person, or just someone trying to use better nutrition to optimize your body composition (muscle/fat ratio) – you’ll need more protein than the average person.

A “normal” protein intake is considered to be about .8 grams per kilogram, but In order to reap the body composition benefits of protein intake, you’re looking at a minimum target closer to 1.2-1.5g/kg and even higher than that if you’re heavy on resistance training.

The extra protein provided by ÄRA will do more than just provide satiety and satisfaction in the moment, it can also help boost your daily protein totals.

I appreciate that it’s not always possible or desirable to achieve ambitious protein goals using exclusively whole foods – that’s where ÄRA comes in.

Improve or buy already fortified coffee

If you need extra protein and/or flavor enhancement, but are using low protein additives or very small amounts of higher protein milk, ÄRA is more suited to the job.

Even if you don’t want to disturb the natural taste of your coffee, but want the protein, ÄRA also comes in a “natural” variety.

As a lover of natural coffee taste, this is actually my favorite ÄRA variety!

You’re all for grab and go convenience

If you’re anything like me, you never know when the urge for your second, third, or fourth coffee might hit.

ÄRA is as versatile as you are, being highly portable and perfectly suited for people who live an on-the-go lifestyle.

Above all, if the product speaks to you and you want to have more fun with your coffee – you really don’t need another reason to try this product.
