One of the most worrying situations that anyone can face with work is to realize that your employment can end without your own mistake. What can you do when your employer announces cuts, redundancies, profit loss or restructuring that your department eliminates? How do you deal with when you realize that your history of good performance reviews no longer protects you from job loss? If you add the pressure of the uncertain economy that makes employers reluctant to hire, then you know that finding a new job can be frightening. If you are not careful, worry and even panic attacks can become your constant partner, rob you sleep and peace of mind. The good news is that you can train to be resilient against great uncertainty and worrying news, even when you have the misfortune of job loss. Here are some useful suggestions from science to avoid unnecessary mental discomfort.

Concern is an answer to the uncertainty in which your mind is trying to eliminate the limitation of the field of options, taking a better safe than the sad approach to focus only on the worst scenario. Instead of saying, “What if I can’t find a new job?” or “What if this time gives me the opportunity to rethink the goals of my life?” Your mind thinks, “What if I never find another job, I will go bankrupt and end up in the homeless?” Concern overlooks the facts that your most recent employer has found it is worth it, hired you and paid you for your work. It overlooks this fact that you developed skills from work estimated by other employers. It assumes the worst for you, the job market and the future without any real basis. Your brain cannot also say the difference between real and fantastic fears, so every time you worry, your body reacts with alarm. This false alarm signal can fool you to believe that your concerns are worth it and you accidentally begin to respond to anxiety instead of the real problem, which is “how can I find a new job? How can I protect myself at this time of work?” work? ” A durable mentality says: “There are ways to find a new job and ways to make money. If I found a job before, then I can do it again.”

Concern also seeks assurances as a quick repair to uncertainty, researching information on the internet or from others to try to see if it is as bad as your concern suggests. The problem with the search for assurance is that reading about daily redundancies, economic downturn and other worrying news does not inspire anyone to find ways to get hired. Puts you to improve your concern and give up. Your best bet is to take risks and try everything you can to find new job. Science shows that risk recipients end up being the winners in life. The risks believe that they are the ones who can reach a better future, even when they don’t know how to get there.

The goal for a good deal is to recognize that there is an opportunity in uncertainty and to radically accept the inherent struggle as necessary and useful. It also helps to ask yourself, “Why not me?” Instead of sticking to the restless and depressed self-doubt of “why me?” Sadness, sadness and confidence are normal direct answers to the threat of job loss. However, they do not lead to healthy treatment because they prevent you from experiencing your courage, strength and ability to develop despite difficulties. They cheat on you to believe fake about your ability to find another job or find a job that value. You have to confirm your value as an employee by believing that you are next lucky good lease. You have to recognize that your concern tells you a false story of despair or weakness and therefore it is never worth believing.

Finally, you must be kind to yourself. This is the time to recognize that the energized chiffon concern and drains your emotional reserves. Making time to gain adequate sleep, exercise and eat healthy food repairs and restore your body’s ability to manage discomfort. It is not the time to use alcohol or other substances to relax, since their side effects eroded your overall ability to deal with. Instead, you escape a good book, spend time with friends, volunteering or getting a new hobby to remind yourself who you are in your work.
