A graduate of PregActive’s Prenatal Fitness Certification, Miranda shares her passion for safe, evidence-based exercise and nutrition to empower pregnant and postpartum women. Based in Australia’s Mornington Peninsula, transforming women’s health through science-backed education

Miranda’s story

I personally started helping pregnant women and new moms 10 years before I got pregnant, which is why I’m so passionate about helping health and fitness professionals do the same!

Miranda reminds me of myself, passionate about what she does and a complete vision of what lies ahead and how she will help women on this journey of pregnancy and motherhood.

What is your current occupation and where are you based?

I am currently completing my fourth and final year of a dual Bachelor’s degree in Exercise Science / Nutrition at Deakin University.

I currently work at Kieser, which is a gym where the Exercise Science team and Physical Therapist work closely together to help people get stronger through applied research practices and a personalized strength program tailored to an individual’s needs.

Upon graduation in October, I will be developing my personal branding ‘fuel your flourish’, with big intentions to make a big difference in the world of women’s health.

I want nothing more than to make a positive contribution to women’s lives and empower them with education about nutrition and exercise and how important it is to our bodies!

I’m on Mt Martha on the Mornington Peninsula.

Why is helping pregnant and postpartum women so important to you?

As pregnancy is such a huge physiological change to the body, I believe that through applied science-based advice, I can make a big difference in ensuring women receive the best possible support.

The body is extremely complex and it is important to have a deeper understanding of the physiology that occurs during pregnancy and to apply safe exercise practices to the needs of pregnant women both during the trimester and postpartum.

This is what I try to educate women to support them in such an incredible stage of their life and ensure the health of the baby and the mother, of course, is the best it can be!

Knowing how to help pregnant and postpartum women, especially by expanding my current knowledge is critical to being able to better contribute to the field of women’s health!

What did you like most about the PregActive Pregnancy and Postpartum Exercise course?

THE Pregactive Pregnancy and Postpartum Trainer Exercise training course it’s a really detailed structure that allows you to feel confident with everything you learn, I really enjoyed this and enjoyed the number of exercises for different stages of pregnancy, it was a highly engaging and interactive course!

What do you plan to do now that you are a Pregnancy and Postpartum Exercise Specialist?

I plan to dig deeper into this whole pregnancy and birth time. you can always learn more!

I plan to combine my knowledge of exercise science with my knowledge of nutrition and adapt it specifically to pregnancy so that I can bring the best of both worlds to the work I will continue to do in the future with women’s health!

How about a newly pregnant mom-to-be who is nervous about starting exercise?

I would reassure her that exercise is safe and very beneficial to her pregnancy for her health and the health of the baby and this is supported by research. A recommendation from a qualified professional is ENOUGH taken seriously.

The most important tip would be to always listen to your body, if it is signaling you to rest then it is important to listen.

What supportive words would you give to a new postpartum mother to help her start exercising?

Trust your body as it is capable of amazing things! Movement will really nourish you and make your pregnancy a more enjoyable experience.

It is just as important to listen to your body during this time as it is to stay active during this life change.

Is there anything else you would like to add?

I have a very strong drive and passion within me to make a difference in people’s lives.

I studied a dual degree in Nutrition and Exercise science as I really believe it is the key to preventative measures of potential health effects and you really can’t have one without the other working together so collaboratively.

Pregnancy and after childbirth it’s such an exciting field to be able to contribute to! I am so excited to expand further, learn more and be a part of this amazing journey with incredible women!

I post educational content on my Instagram business platform, this includes meal prep with recipes I create based on my knowledge. I would appreciate any support 🤍
