Hello friends! Let’s talk about something near and dear to my heart: coffee.
As one Integrative Health ProfessionalI’m pretty particular about what I put in my body and that includes my morning cup of happiness. So when I came across Danger Coffee at Dave Asprey’s Biohacking conference (they literally had it flowing everywhere), I knew I had to try it and report back.
I’ve been drinking the decaffeinated version daily for almost two years and I’m sharing everything: the taste, the ingredients, the price, and whether it’s really worth it for health-conscious coffee lovers like us.

Is Coffee Worth the Risk? My full review
What is Coffee Danger?
Danger Coffee is a premium, remineralized coffee created by Dave Asprey – the same guy behind Bulletproof Coffee. Founded in 2022, it’s built around three things that make it truly different from the average bean bag:
1. It is demineralized. Using a patent-pending process, each batch is infused with 50+ trace minerals and electrolytes via humic and fulvic acids. As an IHP, I love this. Most of us are depleted of minerals from modern diets, and getting them in our morning coffee is honestly a genius delivery method.
2. It is mold tested. Mycotoxins (mold compounds that survive roasting and brewing) are a real concern in conventional coffee and can contribute to brain fog, fatigue and inflammation. Danger Coffee is third-party tested at multiple stages to confirm purity. This is very important if you’ve ever noticed that certain coffees make you feel a bit… sluggish.
3. The beans are of special quality and single origin. They are sourced from small family farms in Central America that use regenerative agricultural practices, meet Specialty Coffee Association quality standards, and are freshly roasted to order. No mystery beans here!

The Danger Coffee product range
The composition is deliberately simple, which I appreciate.
No decision fatigue:
Medium dark roast: Balanced, smooth, dry with hints of cocoa. Works great for drip, French press, or pour-over. Available whole beans or ground.
Dark Roast: Bold and full-bodied with notes of bakery chocolate, nougat and smoky oak. Great if you love a really robust cup or want to use it for cold brew.
Medium Dark Decaf : This is my personal daily pick and is one of the best decaf I’ve ever had. (Most decaf tastes like sad brown water. This is not the case.)
Immediate danger: It is slowly brewed for 72 hours and then freeze-dried. No weird fillers. The pilot loves this for travel because it tastes amazing.
Compostable pods: Single serving microplastics, zero plastics. A nice choice if you are a person who also cares about the environment.

How does it taste? My personal experience
Full disclosure: I drink the decaffeinated version because caffeine and my anxiety have a complicated relationship. So if you’re also in the decaffeinated camp, hello, welcome, this review is just for you. Most Danger Coffee reviews only cover caffeinated roasts and we deserve better.
The decaf it’s smooth, rich and a really enjoyable black. It doesn’t have the flat, papery quality that mars most decaf. There is a slight earthiness from the minerals, but it’s subtle. not funky. I also notice a mild lift that I think comes from the minerals themselves, which is kind of cool.
My Money Saving Hack: I mix it 50/50 with Whole Foods organic decaf. You still get the benefits of the minerals, the flavor holds up beautifully and each bag lasts twice as long. It’s still worlds cheaper than a daily coffee habit!
For caffeinated roasts: reviewers consistently report a clean, sustained energy boost with no jitters or crash. Mold-free processing is probably a big reason why the energy is different from conventional coffee.
Danger Coffee Pros and cons
Advantages
Remineralization is a real, functional benefit. Fulvic and humic acids support mineral absorption, gut health, hydration and cellular energy. Do you take this through your morning coffee instead of a separate supplement? Sign me uppppp.
Mold testing really matters. If you’ve ever felt down, foggy, or jittery after coffee, it shouldn’t affect you this way. it could be the mycotoxins. Having a brand that tests rigorously is HUGE.
The taste is excellent. No bitterness, smooth finish, clearly high quality beans. It earns its stripes as a specialty coffee even without the functional health angle.
Decaffeine is justifiably one of the best on the market. I cannot stress this enough. Good decaf is rare. This is not an afterthought.
It’s great in bulletproof brown. If you pair yours with grass-fed butter and MCT oil, the mineral profile supports this fat-laden morning routine.
Disadvantages
The price is real. At around $26-31 for a 12-16oz bag, it’s a premium product. That said, if you’re already spending money on supplements, organic foods, and clean products, the price per cup makes perfect sense (especially with a discount code and my blending hack above).
It’s online only. You can’t just grab it at the store when you’re done. Plan ahead, friends!
Limited variety of roast. The composition is deliberately tight. If you enjoy exploring a rotating cast of single-origin roasts, this might not be itching for you.
Price analysis and how to save

Who is Danger Coffee best for?
It’s a great fit if:
- Prioritize clean foods, supplements or biohacking already
- Are you anxious, stressed or jittery with conventional coffee?
- You suspect mold or low-quality beans are affecting how you feel
- You drink decaf and are sick of the terrible options (same, friend, same)
- You want to add functional benefits to a ritual you’re already doing
It’s probably none of your business if:
- You just want cheap, functional caffeine and don’t care too much about quality
- You love exploring tons of different roast profiles
- Budget is your main filter right now – no shame in that!

How to prepare it
Pour-over (my method): use this pour-over maker. Rinse your filter, use about 20–22 grams of ground coffee per 12 ounces of water, bloom with a small splash of hot water for 30 seconds, then pour the rest in a slow circular motion. Total preparation time: about 2.5–3 minutes.
French Press: Use a coarse grind. Add 30 grams of coffee per 16 ounces of water at about 200°F, simmer for 4 minutes and strain slowly.
Some quick tips:
- Store beans in an airtight container in a cool, dark place (not in the fridge – condensation messes up the flavour)
- I drink my coffee after breakfast rather than first thing on an empty stomach – easier to digest and helps prevent afternoon energy
Frequently Asked Questions
Is Danger Coffee worth the price? If you care about the pure ingredients and functional benefits — yes. Mold testing, mineralization and special beans all justify the premium, especially with a discount code.
Does Danger Coffee have a decaffeinated option? Yes! Medium Dark Decaf uses the Swiss Water process to remove 99.9% of caffeine without chemical solvents. It’s really great.
What is the difference between Danger Coffee and Bulletproof Coffee? Both are Dave Asprey creations that focus on mold-free beans. Danger Coffee takes it a step further with its exclusive remineralization process — 50+ trace elements and electrolytes in every cup.
Can you taste the metals? Most people notice a slightly earthy quality, but it’s subtle. It tastes like really good coffee, not like you’re drinking a supplement. Promise.
Is it organic? They are not certified organic, but the beans are naturally raised without synthetic pesticides and are third-party tested for purity. In some ways the standard of testing goes beyond what organic certification alone guarantees.

Danger Coffee has truly earned a permanent place in my morning routine. The decaf is excellent, the mineral support is functional and evidence-based, and the mold test gives me real peace of mind. Is it the cheapest option out there? No. But it’s one of the few products where the premium price corresponds to a real, tangible upgrade: in quality, in what I feel, and in what I don’t put in my body.
