Sapio Sciences, the AI lab IT company, announced today that Claude Cowork, Anthropic’s AI assistant, is now integrated into the Sapio platform through Sapio Elain, the AI co-scientist. This integration gives scientists and project leaders a single conversational interface to search, retrieve and analyze data held in their R&D organization and take action directly in Sapio ELN and LIMS.
Working autonomously on behalf of the user, Claude Cowork searches data sources, aggregates findings and returns verified, structured results, reports and dashboards. Connected to the Sapio platform, Claude Cowork can also take actions on behalf of the user to work on ELN experiments or LIMS processes and data, and where this happens, all actions are performed with full traceability with attribution to the requesting user.
Sapio Elain is the AI co-scientist on the Sapio platform, making every interaction smarter for the scientist at the bench. Claude acts as an extension of Elain’s capabilities, opening up new reporting and analysis capabilities and enabling action on data across the organization. Together they give our customers artificial intelligence that works at every level of the organization, all from a single message.”

Addressing the needs of scientists and project managers
For scientists, this removes a major hurdle in the research process. Questions that span multiple processes or experiments typically require multiple searches, manual data extractions, and waiting time for computational support for analysis. Claude Cowork answers these questions with a single prompt, retrieving, collecting and analyzing across the entire Sapio data environment.
For project leaders and team managers, it provides something equally valuable: visibility into the entire project without logging into the platform. From real-time project status to full completion of experiments or bottlenecks, Claude Cowork gathers this insight on demand from a single question.
R&D intelligence, accessible from a single message
Connected to the Sapio platform via Sapio Elain, Claude Cowork returns verified, structured results, including dashboards, HTML reports and research summaries. Examples of use cases include:
- Between-experiment analysis: Find all experiments related to a particular molecule, compare synthesis conditions across trials, determine which approaches produced the best yields, and display optimal parameters for the next experiment.
- Project data analysis: Pull in all activity data for a specific target or project, perform SAR trend analysis on complex series, and return a structured summary of the most promising candidates for progress.
- Program and project monitoring: Get a real-time view of where a program is, which experiments are complete, which are deadlocked, and which team members have backlogs, all from a single question.
- Compliance and Laboratory Operations: Report backlogged unsigned experiments, generate reagent inventory reports with reorder and expiration alerts, and create KPI dashboards on active projects.
- Composite and Platform Registration Actions: Register compounds directly on the Sapio platform from an SDF file provided by a CRO to email, all with full traceability.
Rob Brown, Vice President and Head of Scientific Office, Sapio Sciences, commented, “Scientists and project leaders spend too much time looking for information that already exists in their organizations. Whether that data lives in experiments, teams or buried in emails, Claude Cowork gives them a conversation to find it, analyze it and act on it. This is a major change in how R&D teams work every day.”
Customers can also connect Sapio Elain to any supported AI assistant, including Microsoft Copilot and ChatGPT, giving organizations the flexibility to work with their preferred tools.
