After years of making, pouring, packaging, troubleshooting, and answering customer questions, we’ve learned something important: people can get VERY creative with their natural deodorant sticks.
And while we admire innovation, sometimes that creativity leads to little mishaps. Which is no fun for anyone (especially your armpits).
Natural deodorant is a little different from conventional formulas. It is made with nourishing vegetable oils, waxes and active ingredients that respond to heat, pressure and storage conditions. Treat it kindly and it will treat you right.
So consider this your friendly public service announcement about things NOT to do with your deodorant stick 👇
❌ 1. Don’t be “naked”

When using your refillable deodorant case, keep your deodorant in its carton. No bare sticks required. We know it might seem logical to slide the wand straight out of the tube and into the case by itself, but trust us, this is where things can get really messy, really fast.
The natural deodorant is made with nourishing oils, butters and waxes that soften with body heat. Without the paper tube to support it, the stick can smudge, chip, stick to the sides, or break inside the case, which turns what should be a quick morning whip into a sticky situation.
Our refillable deodorant cases are specially designed to fit perfectly into cardboard tubes. The tube acts as a protective sleeve, helping the stick maintain its shape while the case adds strength, protection and style. So just pop the tube straight into the case, twist as usual and enjoy hassle-free, fuss-free application.
❌ 2. Don’t push it all the way

It’s not a telescope 😉 One of the most common causes of deodorant breakage is pushing the stick too high before applying. It may seem harmless, but extending the product too high removes the structural support it receives from the pipe.
Natural deodorants are slightly milder than conventional sticks because they do not contain synthetic hardeners or binders. This is part of what makes them glide on smoothly and feel comfortable on the skin. However, it also means that they need a little more care when applying.
When the stick is pushed too far up, the pressure from normal application can cause it to bend, snap, or shatter. Once this happens, it can be difficult to reset regularly.
Pro tip: If you accidentally push your wand too high, tap the base on a solid surface and it should slide down.
Avoiding all this disaster is very simple. Push the stick up just a few millimeters (enough for a comfortable glide) and apply with gentle pressure.
❌ 3. Do not leave it in your car

We love the Australian sun. Unfortunately, your deodorant doesn’t.
The deodorant’s natural ingredients are carefully balanced to remain solid at room temperature while still sliding easily onto the skin. But like most natural ingredients, they are sensitive to heat.
When left in a hot car, especially during the warmer months, the interior temperature can rise well above 30°C. At these temperatures, the formula may soften or partially melt. The texture may change, the stick may shift inside the tube, and once it cools again, you may notice small surface cracks or unevenness.
This does not mean that the product is damaged. In most cases, it will still work perfectly. It might just feel slightly different to the app.
To keep your deodorant at its best, store it in a cool, dry place and avoid prolonged exposure to high temperatures. If it softens, leave it upright in a cool room and let it recover naturally before using it again.
It’s hot. Just don’t let it melt!
❌ 4. Do not use it as dog food

We know your dog thinks everything you own is fair game. Socks, lunch boxes, mysterious crumbs on the floor… and obviously deodorant (and lip balm!) too.
But even though our deodorants are made with natural ingredients, they’re not made for curious puppies. Some essential oils and active ingredients can upset your dog’s tummy or irritate them if chewed or swallowed.
So if you have a four-legged chaos gnome at home, keep your deodorant safely away. Fresh pits, no veterinary drama. Everyone wins. 🐶
❌ 5. Please do not lick it

Look, we didn’t think we should write this either. But here we are.
Yes, it can smell great. No, it’s not a snack. Our deodorants are made for underarms, not for taste tests, triple-dares or ‘just to see what it tastes like’.
A lick or nibble can cause an unpleasant burning or tingling sensation, especially with mint or citrus scents. So let’s keep things simple: in your pits, not your palate. 😉
The golden rule
Treat your natural deodorant stick kindly and it will keep your pits fresh, comfortable and happy for as long as possible!
