Share a recap of the books I’ve read recently and whether they’re worth adding to your collection.

Hello friends! what are you doing I hope you had a beautiful morning. The kids and I go for a hike and then come home to continue cleaning out their closets. We make such a mess of the process but it’s worth it!

For today’s post, I wanted to share some of the books I’ve been reading lately. Since the kids went back to school, I haven’t made reading as much of a priority. I’ve missed it, and it’s nice to be back at it! I try to listen to books while running errands and that helped me this month. Very.

Here’s a rundown of recent reads and whether I’d recommend adding them to your list!

Books from the last time

Lies I Taught in Medical School

In Lies I Taught in Medical School, Dr. Robert Lufkin challenges many of the long-held assumptions of conventional medicine, especially regarding nutrition, chronic disease, and preventive care. Drawing on his own medical training and clinical experience, he reveals how outdated guidelines, pharmaceutical influence, and limited nutritional education can lead to ineffective—or even harmful—health advice.

Dr. Robert Lufkin describes how many doctors have been trained with outdated dietary guidelines and limited tools to prevent chronic disease, then shares how his views have changed after years of practice and teaching. It’s eye-opening without being preachy, and empowering in that sense it reminds you that your health is not something you blindly surrender. You are allowed to ask questions, look for root causes and support what really makes you feel better. 10/10

From Amazon:

For the first time in history, chronic diseases such as diabetes, hypertension and obesity are plaguing our population on a global scale. From an experienced physician, this paradigm-shifting book thoroughly explains the interconnected cause of chronic disease and exposes the misconceptions prevalent in modern medicine.

In Lies I Taught in Medical School, Robert Lufkin, MD, explains that metabolic dysfunction is the common underlying cause of most chronic diseases that has been ignored for decades, providing the necessary tools to prevent and reverse them in ourselves. It is based on extensive, peer-reviewed evidence, proving that standard medical recommendations are killing us.

Over the course of twelve illustrated chapters, Lies I Taught in Medical School chronicles how Dr. Lufkin reversed four chronic illnesses himself and expertly provides the strategies needed to:

Reduce chronic disease risk factors such as inflammation and insulin resistance

Stabilize mental health through diet and lifestyle

Improve nutrition and metabolism

Treat obesity, diabetes, hypertension, cardiovascular and other common chronic conditions

Avoid unnecessary medications, including many diabetes and high blood pressure medications

Additionally, Dr. Lufkin offers practical advice to show how lifestyle factors such as diet, sleep, exercise, and stress management can target the root cause of chronic disease. Lies I Taught in Medical School is a revolutionary and holistic guide to help you take control of your health – before it’s too late.

The Millionaires Next Door

This book completely redefines what wealth actually looks like. Instead of fancy cars and big houses, The millionaire next door shows that most financially successful people live fairly normal, even mediocre lives. They are consistent, disciplined and focused on long-term stability rather than appearance. It’s not about deprivation. these are deliberate choices. I found it positive and motivating, especially as a reminder that quiet consistency usually beats quick, flashy success. We really dialed back our spending this year and this book has helped a lot with my mindset around everything. 10/10

From Amazon:

The incredible national bestseller that changes people’s lives — and increases their net worth!

Can you spot the millionaire next door?

Who are the rich in this country?

What are they doing?

Where do they shop?

What are they driving?

How do they invest?

How did they get rich?

Can I be one of them?

Get the answers to The Millionaire Next Door, the untold story of America’s weather. You will be surprised at what you discover….

Personally

I was so excited to read the latest book by Dr. Cabral and exceeded my high expectations. Personally by Dr. Stephen Cabral includes a personalized, grassroots approach to health that recognizes that no two bodies are alike. Rather than blanket protocols, Cabral emphasizes understanding individual biochemistry, genetics, lifestyle, stress levels, and environmental exposures. The book guides readers through how functional laboratory testing, targeted nutrition, detoxification, and lifestyle changes can be used together to restore balance and prevent chronic disease. It is a powerful book for anyone seeking a more personalized, systems-based path to healing. 10/10

From Amazon:

The future of health is personal. Don’t guess – test. Personomics is your guide to unlocking lifelong energy, health, longevity and an end to all disease.

Why do some people thrive on foods that leave others bloated, tired or inflamed? Why can two people follow the same training, diet or supplement regimen and get completely different results?

Because there is no single answer for health. The truth is, your body works by its own unique code. When you learn how to read it, you hold the key to reversing fatigue, balancing hormones, improving sleep, clearing brain fog, and extending both your health and lifespan.

In Personomics, Dr. Stephen Cabral, Board Certified Doctor of Naturopathy, reveals the hidden signals your body sends every day—signals that conventional medicine often overlooks. You’ll learn how simple assessments, home labs, and natural protocols can help you identify foods, nutrient deficiencies, and toxicities that cause inflammation, balance your hormones and metabolism, and design a personalized plan to restore your energy, burn more body fat, and optimize your health.

“Hidden inside your body is a code more powerful than any medical diagnosis. Personomics reveals how to unlock it—and transform your entire trajectory of health and longevity.”

Good spirits

This was pure comfortable, holiday comfort. Good spirits by BK Borison reads like a Christmas rom-com that makes you want to curl up on the couch, preferably with a blanket and something warm to drink. It’s lighthearted yet heartfelt, with lovable characters and that familiar reminder that healing, love and fresh starts often appear where you least expect them. This is perfect if you want something to feel good and get away with, and it’s a quick read so you can still enjoy it before the 12 days of Christmas are up! 7/10 just because it’s pure fluff.
From Amazon:

It’s the ghost of Christmas past. He’s not exactly Scrooge.

Ghost of Christmas Past Nolan Callahan intends to spend this holiday season haunted like any other – enter, exit, return to his otherwise pointless existence as a ghost awaiting the afterlife. But when he comes face to face with Harriet York, the sweetest assignment he’s ever had, he suddenly finds himself wishing for a future.

Harriet York has no idea why she is being haunted. He’s a good man—or, at least, he tries to be. A people pleaser at her core, she always does what is expected of her. But as she and Nolan begin to examine her past, they discover there are threads that bind them together – and realize there may be more to them than meets the eye.

With the Christmas Eve deadline fast approaching, will they find the key to their future in each other’s past? Or will they remain firmly in the present, indulging in their unexpected, inspired connection?

Filled with magic, mayhem and cozy holiday charm, this romantic romance is BK Borison’s best!

So tell me, friends: any 10/10 reads lately? What’s on your reading list right now?

I can’t wait starting this.

xo
