It’s the season of get-togethers and holiday parties, and I’ve noticed so many amazing DIY hostess gift ideas on Pinterest. Plus I have a few on this blog that are tried and true. I thought I’d round up the best, classiest DIY hostess gifts that are affordable and easy to make and way more special than grabbing a bottle of wine on the street!

Making your own gifts is such a great way to show your friends and family that you care. In these days of consumerism where everyone seems to have everything they need and want, I think as a society we crave connection and reality. An intentional, down-to-earth item made with thought and love is the perfect way to celebrate this holiday season!

Many of these DIY gifts can be made in bulk easily and inexpensively. Add a pretty gift tag and a pretty bow and you’ve definitely got some holiday cheer that any hostess would welcome!

More holiday gift ideas:

Hot Cocoa Mix:

Homemade Hot Mix Cocoa Recipe

I posted my hot cocoa mix recipe last winter and it was an absolute hit. I made a HUGE amount and it’s time to make a fresh batch for my house. It’s easy, affordable, and cuts down on some nasty ingredients you’ll find in many hot cocoa packets. My family uses it year round and agreed it tastes better than store bought. Although I didn’t post this as a gift idea, it’s a great gift idea! Can be made and sorted into 4 oz glass jars. Add a small bottle of Bailey’s and marshmallows for an extra treat! Add a tag and ribbon and you have such a cute hostess gift!

Find the recipe HERE.

DIY Terrarium:

I love making terrariums and indoor gardens with succulents. Even though it’s not summer, you can find succulents or terrarium-friendly plants at a nursery. You can get creative and add your choice of rock and glass vases that are super stylish yet affordable. I find mine at Hobby Lobby.

Go HERE for more instructions and ideas.

Marble clay plates:

Making marble clay dishes is one of my favorite DIYs. It’s so easy but looks so high end! You can customize the colors, choose to add a glossy top coat and even add a metallic lip if you choose! I chose clay that needs to be baked but you could also work with air clay.

Surname stamped trinket plates

Laura Jade Prado

These baubles are so lovely and I love the idea of putting someone’s name on the plate. Amazon has very affordable stamp kits. These dishes would be easy to make with the irregular undulating motion of the dishes. I love the gold edge too!

Go HERE for full tutorial.

Firestarter Pinecones:

Something turquoise

If you’re like me and live near pine trees, pine cones are everywhere and I’m always looking for fun DIYs to use them up. This is an easy and unique way to make a cute gift. This tutorial also comes with a downloadable tag! In addition, you can use the remains of old candles or buy soybeans on Amazon. You only need a wick!

Get complete fire pine cone tutorial HERE.

DIY pot jars

Twelve On Main

I like to simmer cinnamon, cranberries, oranges, rosemary and lemons on the stove during the colder months. It’s a great way to create a cozy atmosphere and it smells amazing! It’s such a smart idea to add these items to a jar and give them as a hostess gift! By dehydrating citrus fruits in the oven, this makes a fantastic gift that the host can use whenever they are ready!

For the full tutorial go HERE.

DIY Cocktail Infusion Kit:

Enough Together

Did you know you can infuse drinks like bourbon, whiskey, rum and vodka? Infused cocktails take your bartending skills up about 20 notches! Adding items like dehydrated citrus, sugar, cinnamon or herbs to a jar for your host to add a specific drink is a great idea! This blog post even comes with printable labels that make it so easy to put together these cocktail infusion kits and give them to all your friends this holiday season!

For instructions go HERE.

DIY Terracotta Ornaments:

Tidbits & Company

These terracotta ornaments are simply stunning. I was stopped dead on Pinterest! Turns out they are made from molds (from Amazon) with flour dusted to create the look. Adding a pretty bow makes them even prettier. What a special gift to give this holiday season! Plus, did you know you can use terra cotta to diffuse essential oils? Just put a few drops on the ornament and hang anywhere you want a special scent!

For how to make terracotta ornaments, go HERE.

Rosemary Infused Salt:

Boxwood Ave

Rosemary infused salt is such an easy DIY but also an incredibly thoughtful gift that could easily be found at high-end stores like William Sonoma, Anthropologie, or West Elm. Add a simple tag and you have a creative and useful gift to give your host!!

For the recipe go HERE.

There you have it – the best hostess gifts for this holiday season all in one post! I hope you found some great options! Which is your favourite? Mine are the infused cocktail kits, but I also love the hot cocoa mix!

xx, Jenny
