By sharing some tips on how to detox your home with simple, effective exchanges to reduce toxic chemicals, improve interior air and create a healthier living space.

Hi friends! What is happening this week? I have a stacked morning with calls and a customer appointment, but I am looking forward to the planetarium with P later today.

Today, I wanted to talk a little bit about the healthy changes we can make at home and some of my favorite steps to create a cleaner living space. One of the largest sources of toxins is not in our kitchen with the food we eat. It’s in our house.

Everyday objects, from the cleaning products we use in the candles we illuminate, often contain toxic chemicals that can irritate our skin, disrupt hormones and contribute to long -term health problems. These compounds also affect the planet, affecting the floating streets, soil and even the quality of the inner air.

A healthier home should not mean to throw everything out of the night. Today, I will share some tips on how to detox your home so you can reduce your exposure to harmful substances, keeping things practical, affordable and sustainable. Of course, I always like to hear about your favorite tips and products, so don’t be afraid to call them in the comments below!

How to detox your house

Some of the things I wanted to chat about:

The most common environmental toxins in our homes

Simple ways of detecting and testing them for them

Practical exchanges and habits to reduce your exposure

The goal is not perfection. It’s progress. It is so easy to get overwhelmed, but the reality is that even some minor changes can have a huge impact over time. If you are also working to cut screen time and activates stress, combine this with digital detox advice for a more peaceful, less toxic home.

What are the most common environmental toxins in our homes

Here are some of the greatest culprits who slip on our daily routines:

Toxic chemicals in cleaning products: Hard detergents, ammonia, bleach and chemical disinfectants.

Violent Organic Associations (VOC): It is released by some adhesive, sealing and traditional colors.

Flame retardants: They were added to sofas, mattresses, curtains and carpets to slow down fires – but are often associated with hormone disorder.

Plasticizers such as BPA and phthalates: They were found in plastic food containers, disposable water bottles and wrapping.

Pesticide residue: From lawn treatments, pest spraying, and even watched the shoes.

Synthetic fragrances: In candles, plug-ins, deodorants and personal care products such as body lotions or hair spray.

Heavy metals: Possible in older pipes, imported ceramics, or poorly made stainless steel utensils.

Inner air pollution: Caused by dust, cooking tobacco, tobacco, out -of -service furniture and poor ventilation.

How to try toxins in your home

Check tags and ingredients

Start by reading the labels on your household and care products. The Environmental Working Group (EWG) offers fantastic resources. The database “Deep Skin” For personal products and their guide to healthy cleaning for household supplies. These tools evaluate toxicity -based products so you know what is safer to buy. I have also heard great things about applying OLIistic Food Scanner.

Use home test kits

Affordable kits can try for common dangers such as lead, radon and mold. These are especially important for older houses or basements that tend to collect moisture. This is the mold test that changed my life; That is why we had our couch to move away from the day we opened the Pucks and also replaced our carpet with mechanical wooden floors.

Evaluate the quality of the inner air

Moisture screens and air quality sensors at home can help detect high particles or volatile organic compounds. If you cook frequently or have pets, you may notice more particles circulating in the air.

Look for certifications

Look for furniture with Golden GreenGuard Green Green and low VOC or zero -based VOC -based colors. For storing food and water bottles, look for BPA -free or high quality glass options and stainless steel.

How to detoxify your home

Go to safer cleaning products

One of the easiest and most affordable places to start is your cleaning products. Replace heavy chemical sprays with herbal types made of vinegar, baking soda and essential oils. If you want a shortcut, look for chips that are particularly rated in the EWG driver for healthy cleaning. My Go-Po for almost everything is Basic elements. A bottle of condensate lasts a long time! I also like the brand rosey Thrives the market < - This link gets you 40% from your first order.

Improve inner air quality

The air pollution of indoor space can grow rapidly. Open the windows daily (even 10 minutes helps), avoid synthetic air deodorants and consider adding a HEPA air cleaner to trap allergens, dust and other thin particles. We have two types in our home: Air doctor and Bromic. For some reason, I was so nervous to creating air filters before we bought them. You can literally remove them from the box, unfold the filter and replace it, then attach it. Our home smells clean and fresh and has made a huge difference with allergies and colds.

Also, you don’t have to take a ton of air filters at the same time. We have bought our own over time. Start with the room where you spend most of the time (such as the living room or office). About an hour before going to bed, put it in your bedroom so you are there while sleeping. It’s okay to move them until you buy more. Ideally one in each bedroom and in main living areas.

Exchang your cookware

Instead of using aluminum pans and cookware, try stainless steel and uncoated ceramic. LOVE Us pots and pans and Caraway cookware and baking dishes.

Choose natural materials

Each time you replace furniture, carpets, bedding or curtains, you choose natural materials such as not processed wood, organic cotton, linen and wool. These elements usually contain fewer treatments of flame retardants and off -duty chemicals.

Exchanged Plastic Food Storage for Glass or Stainless Steel

Reduce your exposure to BPA and phthalates by storing residues in glass containers or lunch boxes of high quality stainless steel and water bottles. These are my favorites glass meal preparation containers.

Ventilated and dust frequently

Ventilation of your home helps to reduce moisture and eliminate volatile organic compounds. Regular dusting and vacuum with a HEPA filter reduce allergens and toxin accumulation from flame retardants and dusty powder.

Update old paint and renovation materials

If your home has older colors, it’s worth a try for lead or VOC. Leasing professionals for safe removal or use a sealant to lock harmful particles until you are ready to renovate.

Be careful about personal care products

Our care products – from body washing to makeup – often contain hidden toxic chemicals that absorb the skin. Use the EWG skin skin database to find safer alternatives. My go-tos is Olive groves and OneSkin.

Additional tips for a healthier home environment

Keep moisture between 40-50% to reduce mold growth.

Wash new clothes and bedding before using to remove the construction residues.

Avoid paraffin candles or air flirting. Choose wax or soy candles without synthetic aromas. I also love oil diffusers. Now has the best essential oils (My code is fitnessista).

Add indoor plants such as peace lilies, spider plants or snake plants to help improve the inner air of course.

Remove the shoes on the door to avoid monitoring in pesticides and heavy metals from the countryside.

It looks like a lot when I type everything .. but you don’t have to do it all at the same time.

Start with an area – maybe cleaning products or water bottles – and build from there. I also like to wait until I finish something to replace it with a safer choice. Over time, these minor changes are added to cleaner inner air, less exposure to toxic chemicals and less potential health problems for your family.

Tell me, friends: What is the first exchange you are excited to do? What is an exchange in your home that you think has made a huge difference?
