3 ways to redefine yourself (by a dietician!)

3 Ways To Redefine Yourself (by A Dietician!)

Confidence does not need to be expensive, inaccessible or worthy. Let us redefine yourself in these three ways to work for us and not for the algorithms.

Well. Don’t get me wrong. I love a massage. I love a mani Pedi. I love a shelter. Bubble bath; Yes, please!

I’m not immune to the subsidies you usually think about when you hear the word self -care. In fact, I really enjoy them.

And there is a reality and a privilege wrapped in these types of self -care. They tend to be expensive and inaccessible to many.

And unfortunately, these are the types of self -care that we see again and again in social media foods. Because it’s worthy. I mean, the algorithm loves a retreat bougie in the woods, right?!

And yet how many of us can realistically get on an expensive Airbnb that has been closed a year earlier?

If you ever feel that you are failing in self -care, you are not alone. Comparison is so easy when you move socially into the daily.

But I’m here to say you You do not fail this -a care. You just have to redefine what self -care is for you.

How do we redefine ourselves? Here are three sentences to start with:

1. Think of yourself as a form of adults.

Let us re -think yourself as taking care of yourself in the simplest ways. Often, this looks like adults.

Doing things that you may not really feel to do or tend to postpone, but you know is important for your well -being.

This could look like:

  • Paying your bills
  • Washing machine
  • Loading the dishwasher
  • keeping your space clean and somewhat neat
  • taking medications or vitamins
  • Going to the treatment
  • grocery shopping
  • cooking

If you let these things slip or take behind them, it will affect your mental state and prosperity. Maybe you can start thinking about these things not as jobs but as a self -care. Notice if this shifts anything inside you when you go to start these tasks.

2. Accept that self -service can be boring.

If you only see self -care as the things you will feel extremely cool to post on Insta, then you will come soon.

Confidence does not need to be sexy or modern or worthy. Self -service can be secular or boring.

Sometimes these “boring” types of self -care can undoubtedly be the most important.

Think:

  • showering
  • You eat regularly all day
  • Move your body
  • remaining hydrated
  • SITUATION
  • brushing your teeth
  • meditation
  • resource

Sure, posting a cylinder from rest is not super sexy, but imho is a radical act in our culture and something we need to see more normal.

We could all probably benefit from seeing more real, secular lives depicted in social. It would probably help us feel more seeing, normalizing and validating, and there may be less comparison, anxiety and depression.

3 Remember that self -service can ever evolve.

Confidence is not static and certainly not an approach to a size. Confidence is dynamic, fluid and individual.

What may feel like self -care in a time of life may not feel like self -care in another. For example, you may have seasons when even boring, adult self-care feels inaccessible (that is, rest or get enough sleep when you are after childbirth).

Or maybe cooking before the kids felt like self -care, but now that no one is eating what you do (and maybe there are some who complain), cooking mixes feelings of anxiety or frustration.

I know that It is okay if the actions that once felt that care no longer feels in this way. You are allowed to evolve and so is yourself.

Also, remember that self-care is personalized in nature. It means that what feels like self -care for me can feel like the most remote thing from care to you.

For example, taking the time to sit down and meditate feels like self -care for me and I know others for whom meditation does not feel safe because being in their bodies does not feel safe.

There are no black and white definitions of what constitutes self -service. You can decide on yourself what care is for you.

You may begin to make a list of all the actions or activities that feel like self -care. Once you let yourself think outside the box, you may be surprised at all the tools you have in the self -care zone.
