5 Simple Rules For Setting Objectives

To help you set, maintain and achieve these goals, you need to follow these 5 simple rules:

  1. Set goals that will motivate you

When setting a goal, this goal should be important to you, for personal reasons and possibly something you want to achieve for a while. For example, maybe for a while, you have thought about starting your own business one day. Now is the perfect time to put this target on paper.

Choose goals that represent or contribute to high priorities in your life. As mentioned, maybe one day you want to start your own business. You may need some qualifications to do this. If the goal is important to you and something you really want to do, it will be much more motivated by a target that you have removed from the thin air or one else. This means that you are much more likely to achieve it.

  1. Make sure your goals are smart

You have probably heard of the term “smart goals”, but if not, it is essentially a great way to ensure that your goal is preserved and feasible. Although there are some different variations of what Smart means, they are essentially:

  • smallPecific – clear and well defined. It should be very clear what the goal is and how it can be achieved.
  • MDesiver – a way of measuring success and progress of the target. Is it a certain period of time, weight, degree or level of skill you want to achieve?
  • ATainable – something you can realistically achieve. It should be provocative enough to do it is worth it, but not so impossible to stop.
  • RElfant – the goal must be something related to the direction you want to take your life or career.
  • TIME BOUND – set a deadline to achieve the goal and set reminders along the way.

Make sure your goal follows the above, you will know that your goals are fixed, well defined and feasible.

  1. Write your goals and put them where you can see them

The act of writing a goal will make it more tangible and real. When you write your goals, write them in such a way that we keep you responsible. For example, use “Will” and not “would like” as it gives the target more power.

When you have written your goals down, put them in a place you will see them every day. Having this constant reminder, you will ensure that you stay focused along the way. How often have you arrived in July and have you completely forgotten even set your goals?

  1. Make an action plan

This place is necessary to achieve a goal, but unfortunately it is often overlooked. People are so focused on the outcome of a goal that forget what really is needed to achieve it. For example, by taking the goal of starting your own business – you may need to take a few steps so that you can reach this goal. If you want to start a personal training business, you should first get your personal qualifications, certificate III and IV in the gym. Once this is achieved, you can then start building a customer base and then your business will be well on its way.

  1. Stick with it and have regular check-in

The last tip is to stick with it. There will be times when you want to give up or when you think it’s no longer relevant, but as long as you have chosen the goal for the right reasons, we will be happy to get stuck is when you finish it.

Adjust regular reminders to your phone to make you think of the target and count how well you are going. Maybe you want to set mini goals for each check in. Again, if you are aiming to start a personal training business, your first check may be after 4 months, to see if you have Cert III in the gym yet, then another 4 months for Cert IV at fitness. Then, finally at the end of the year, you have the goal of having 10 customers.

Conclusion

Determination of target should exceed just by saying something to yourself that you would like to achieve. You have to make yourself responsible and make sure the goal has every chance of becoming a chance.

By setting the goals, you will be able to enjoy the satisfaction of being able to achieve something you set to do. When you run your own personal training business, you will surely be happy to be stuck with it.

The position of 5 simple rules for setting goals first appeared at the Australian Academy of Gymnastics.
