Whether it is scheduled or unexpected, I strongly believe that the birth of caesarean section is still birth and each Mom is worth feeling informed, supported and authorized through her. But the truth is that many women get into their C divisions feel unprepared and are not sure what to expect during a section C. So I knew we had to record this episode and found the perfect Visitors to help us do exactly that: Dr. Jen Wagner, a Anesthesiologist Certified with the Board of Directors, and Bethany Scott, a recorded nurse, Doula and his C-section mom.

We had such an incredible discussion that we ended up talking about hours! There was so many valuable information that we were sharing that we decided to divide it into two episodes, because we really didn’t want to leave anything out. These kinds of sincere conversations are exactly what we need to help shift the narrative about the birth of caesarean section.

Who are Bethany + Jen?

Dr. Jen Wagner He is a Certified Board of Directors, a trained obstetric anesthesiologist with years of experience that support women through work and tradition, especially during the C. Departments. It is not only a physician who is practicing but also a teacher and supports the integration of medicine based on evidence. After the birth of her daughter through the C-section in 2018 and her son via VBAC in 2020, Dr. Jen became even more passionate about improving the birth experience for others.

Her dear friend and co-iconic, Bethany ScottIt’s also here to chick-chat with us. Bethany is a registered nurse, a certified Doula, and the mom of the three who were born through the C-section-as well as an angel baby. Her journey began in the fashion world, but after moving to New York, she followed her true call to women’s health. Bethany started as Doula, later transferring nursing work and delivery and sorting ob/gyn. Through her own strong experiences with birth and childbirth, she recognized the lack of preparation resources specifically for C. She decided to create the kind of support she wanted to have. Today, Bethany is passionate about helping women feel they have seen, supported and empowered all birth to and beyond.

She and Dr. Jen now share their ideas and Prospects through their podcasts, The C-Section Experience Podcastthat helps Women prepare and process their birth stories with more confidence and compassion.

What did we discuss?

In this place 1 episode, Dr. Jen, Bethany, and I chick-chat on what really It happens before, during and immediately after a section C-oh is scheduled or unmistored-and how to make the experience feel more like birth and less as a process. It is essential for mothers to understand which options are available in each step and we feel that this episode is doing this. Here are some of the questions we covered in our conversation:

  • Let’s start with the basics. Can you walk us through the different types of C-sections (emerging, non-growing, scheduled, unplanned, soft, family, etc.)?
  • Why would women need these? Who qualifies for each one? How can parents better browse these challenges?
  • Please walk us through what a pregnant mom can wait for when she has a caesarean section. (Previous, during the process and immediate after childbirth)
  • What have you found that you are some usual fears or misunderstandings that women have about sections C and what would you say to facilitate these fears?
  • What are the things that people do not know that they can do or ask for when it comes to a caesarean section? What should they put on their birth plan?

I hope this episode of Part 1 will give you the information you were looking for to prepare for the process and experience of your birth. Next week, we are going to dive into more experience after childbirth and what you can expect.

Final thoughts

Departments C are often depicted in classes or by providers as clinical or impersonal, but they do not need to be. Knowing what to expect during a segment C can make all the difference. The more you know, the more confident you can feel and the clearer you can support what is most important to you.

As Dr. Jen and Bethany reminded us so Many ways to make this experience more up to date, respected and empowerment. Whether you are preparing for a scheduled caesarean section or just want to be ready for any possibility, this episode offers the insight and compassion that I believe every mom is worth.

Like Bethany and Dr. Jen so beautifully sharing: the C divisions are real births-gemstones, bravery and transformation. They deserve to be honored and spoken, like any other birth story. And I couldn’t agree more.

I hope this episode helps you feel more prepared and authorized for the birth of your C division. If you know a mom who will benefit from understanding what to expect during a section C, please send her her way and label on Instagram on @Thebabychickchat. Your story matters. Your birth matters. And you’re not alone.

Bethany + Jen’s resources

Thank you for listening to our podcast. Cheer to an authorized and supported caesarean section!
