The itching feeling anywhere in your body is never pleasant, and when it happens below, it can be especially relevant.

If you have experienced vaginal itching after sex, you may immediately believe that it is due to a sexually transmitted infection (STI). While this is a possibility, there may be many other causes.

So what can cause a vagina itch? Let’s explore some possible reasons.

Are you worried about the STDs? Order a full Sti Screen Home test today.

In

Vaginal itching can indeed be an indicative sign of a STI.

Itching in the genital area is usually caused by bacterial and viral STDs that infect urinary tract during vaginal sex or sharing sex toys. Infected body fluids transmit these pathogens through the mucosa into the vagina. Itching is caused by the response of your immune system to these foreign bodies.

Itching may also be accompanied by other Symptoms Stiincluding:

  • Abnormal vaginal discharge
  • Urination
  • Pain when you have sex
  • Bleeding between periods
  • Full or hits inside or around the vagina
  • Unusual vaginal odor

Here are some common STDs that can cause vaginal itching.

Chlamydia

Chlamydia caused by the bacterium Chlamydia trachomatis. It often affects cervix in women and urethra in men, but it can also infect the rectum and throat.

Chlamydia can cause a number of symptoms, including vaginal itching. This itching occurs because the infection leads to inflammation and irritation of vaginal tissues. Other symptoms may include unusual rejection, pain during urination and discomfort during sex.

Gonorrhea

Gonorrhea caused by the bacterium Neisseria gonorrhoeae. Like chlamydia, it can infect the genital system, rectum and neck.

Gonorrhea can cause vaginal itching due to inflammation and irritation activated in vaginal tissues. Other symptoms may include unusual rejection, painful urination and discomfort during sex.

Herpes

Herpes It is caused by herpes Simplex virus (HSV), which includes HSV-1 and HSV-2. May affect the genital area, mouth; other parts of the body.

Herpes can cause vaginal itching because it leads to inflammation and irritation in the affected areas. You may also notice other symptoms such as painful wounds, blisters and discomfort when peeing.

Sperm allergy

Plasma hypersensitivity, also known as sperm allergy, is a rare allergic reaction to sperm proteins.

You may experience an allergic reaction with a partner, but not another, or could suddenly appear after years of being with the same partner.

Symptoms can affect any area that comes into contact with sperm, such as the vulva, vagina, anus and mouth.

Usually, the symptoms start within 10 to 30 minutes after exposure and can resemble those of vaginitis or certain STDs.

In addition to itching, the symptoms of a sperm allergy include:

  • Pain
  • Combustion
  • Swelling
  • Redness

If you suspect that you have sperm allergy, it is important to consult a healthcare professional for proper diagnosis and management.

Latex allergy

Latex condoms can cause itching, redness and swelling in people with latex allergies.

If you notice an unpleasant reaction after using a condom during sex, why not try a Non-Late Alternative;
