The overwhelming majority of public knowledge about sexually transmitted diseases (STD) is based on the most common infections: Chlamydia; HIV; Gonorrhea.

Even with these infections, misconceptions can be widespread. Better2 often knows in contact with many patients who have been given incorrect or incomplete information about these infections, leading them to incorrect conclusions that may contribute to their health damage.

A less common infection, HaircutIt can be even more problematic in this respect. The lack of detailed public information about this infection can sow the wrong impression of how it spreads.

Specifically, Better2kNow’s telephone lines have recently come with questions about whether one can get Trichomonas by themselves – Without any sexual activity.

Is it possible? Continue to read to find out

It may be difficult to know if you have Sti. If you are worried, you should try with one of Better2kner’s full Sti screens.

What is Trichomonas?

Let’s start with the basics.

Trichomonas is a sexually transmitted infection, but unlike chlamydia and HIV, which are caused by bacteria and viruses, respectively, Trichomonas is caused by a parasitic protozo called Trichomonas vaginalis.

When contracted, this parasite infects the urine pathway. Can cause symptoms such as:

  • Pain during urination
  • To women:
    • A sparkling vaginal discharge with a “fisherman” odor
    • Pain during sex in the vagina and vulva
  • To men:
    • Abnormal delicate white discharge
    • Balanitis (swelling and redness around penis head)
    • Balanoposhitis (swelling and redness around the foreskin)

Most people who take Trichomonas usually develop symptoms about a month after initial infection.

However, it is possible to get a Trichomonas infection and not experience any symptoms, making identification without trying very difficult.

The acquisition of Trichomonas can also make you more sensitive to get other STDs, such as HIV.

How do you get Trichomonas?

The overwhelming majority (north of 99%) of Trichomonas infections contributes through sexual activity, including vaginal, anal sex and sexuality exchange.

Although possible, it is extremely unlikely for anyone to shrink Trichomonas during oral sex. This infection is more easily transmitted through unprotected sex, where no barrier contraceptives such as condoms and dental dams are used.

If you are worried about Trichomonas, try with the affordable trichomonas home test.

Can you develop a trichomonas infection without having sex?

There are documented cases of people who take Trichomonas without having sex.

A study Women in Zambia found that the hair was probably spread between a community of young women through common waters and inconsistent soap use.

The parasite Trichomonas can live outside the body for several hours on absorbent (towels) and non -absorbent (plastic) surfaces. So it is important not to share items such as towels or swimsuits and Be careful when sitting on wet benches in public swimming areas or baths.

Trichomonas parasites were also appears To remain viable and infectious in pool water samples for several hours.

All of these transmission methods are technically strong but also very unlikely. Sexual activity remains, by far the most common way of transmitting.

If my partner has Trichomonas, were they cheating?

If your sexual partner develops symptoms of any STI, it is understood that your first thought will go to infidelity.

However, this may not necessarily happen.

Sti can grow slowly in weeks or months. One can contract a Sti, introduce a new relationship, and then develop symptoms. The overwhelming majority of people who go hand in hand with any Sti will not have symptoms. About 50% of men and 75% of women who have chlamydia do not know it. Some people who contract HIV may not know that they have the infection up to years or decades later.

It is not possible to prove how someone got a Sti. It is important to have honest conversations about your feelings and concerns with your partner to reach productive conclusions that will be better for all parties involved.
