Women’s Gymnastics President Ms. Namita Nayyar meets Tijana Korent is an extremely talented Croatian artistic gymnast, gold medalist on vault at the 2023 World Cup, here she talks about her gymnastics routine, diet and her success story.

Namita Nayar:

You were born in Čakovec, Croatia. Where did you have your early education? Your mother put you in gymnastics classes at the age of four. You have a degree in sports management from the Technical University of Medimurje in Cakovec. You competed at the 2006 World Championships where you finished 121st in the all-around with a score of 48.600. This later pushed your career to the height where for you it became the first time that a Croatian athlete qualified for an event final at a European Championships. Tell us more about your professional journey of extraordinary hard work, perseverance and endurance?

Tiana Corrent:

Well, my fitness career started at a young age, I was 4 years old when I first entered the gym and fell in love with the sport.

There are many hours of training you have to put into it before you can go to your first competition, and that’s probably the hardest thing about fitness, that sometimes, you can’t see the results as quickly as you’d like. But with a lot of support and encouragement from my family and friends (and later my husband too) I kept going and believed in myself. And the results came after that. I am beyond proud to be the first Croatian gymnast to enter the finals of the European championship and write the history of Croatian gymnastics.

Namita Nayar:

It is a dream for a gymnast to play in the FIG World Cup. During the 2019 FIG World Cup series, you won the bronze medal on vault at the World Cup in Mersina, Turkey and the silver medal on vault at the World Cup in Guimaraes, Portugal. Tell us more about these spectacular achievements of yours?

Tiana Corrent:

Of course it is a dream to be part of such big competitions. You always hope for that day to come, to come on a big stage and shine. And I succeeded several times. It makes me very happy, but it’s also a huge push forward that gives you the inspiration to try and do more and keep going. I also won gold at the World Cup in Bulgaria 2023 and silver at the World Cup in Koper 2024 and was 2nd on the vault world challenge ranking list for 2023 and 2024, so hopefully many more to come.
