Men tend to avoid skincare and unfortunately, end up missing out on the benefits of what a great skincare routine can bring. As men age, their skin begins to change and needs care. As with anything you do, skin care requires consistency.

Here’s what a typical skin care routine for men should look like.

Cleaning

Washing your face twice a day is vital for all genders. Cleansing your face in the morning gives you a new glowing and fresh start to the day and your skin! Also, since you start each day with a clean slate, why not let your skin end on a fresh note, too? Washing your face at night before you go to bed prevents dirt and pollution from entering your pores throughout the night, ensuring your face looks clean and healthy!

The best choice for men is a mild foaming cleanser as it helps reduce excess oil from the surface of their skin and even makes shaving easier. Additionally, if you don’t have sensitive skin, you can also opt for an exfoliating cleanser.

However, one thing to remember is not to wash your face too often as it can end up stripping your skin of its natural oils.

Repair

Exposure to free radicals causes oxidative stress, causing the health of your skin to deteriorate over time. This is especially true for men who often play sports and play under the sun. In addition, oxidative stress is also caused by air pollution, cigarette smoke and industrial chemicals.

So, before the health and appearance of your skin starts to deteriorate, you need to focus on maintaining your skin. You can do this by using a good antioxidant serum such as Vit C serum which helps reduce any present damage and prevents any future damage.

Serums are targeted treatments that help hydrate and hydrate your skin deep within the layers, improving its overall health and appearance. The best time to apply a serum is after shaving and before moisturizing your face.

Moisturizing

After applying an antioxidant serum to your face, it’s time to top it off with a moisturizer. A common assumption is that moisturizers and creams are meant for people with dry skin and well, men usually have oily skin. However, this is not true at all.

Moisturizers are important for all skin types. The only difference is that while those with oily skin require more moist and light moisturizers, those with dry skin need heavy moisturizers. So, you can choose either one depending on your skin type.

Another important thing to ensure is that your moisturizer contains an SPF of at least 30. There is a good chance that men spend most of their time outdoors, when their skin suffers the most damage. Applying a moisturizer with SPF helps protect your skin from the sun’s harmful UV rays, preventing premature aging. At night, you may choose to apply a light moisturizer without SPF.

Skin care requires consistency. it’s not one time. You can expect to apply moisturizer one day and expect your skin to be perfect for the rest of the years. However, developing a skincare routine can be rather daunting, especially since you don’t know what to use or do.

So what does 2020 have in store for men’s grooming?

1. For the face: Retinol

This exfoliant is derived from vitamin A and helps accelerate collagen production and cell renewal. Retinol moisturizers are buzzing for their rejuvenating effects and how they inhibit the aging process and reduce acne and blemishes.

By using an excellent, all-natural retinol cream, your skin will be less prone to sagging, crow’s feet and wrinkles. Your complexion will also brighten and clear, and any visible signs of aging and sun damage will begin to fade with regular use.

The best part about retinol is that it can be combined with other products in your skin care routine, but you need to be careful to avoid products that cancel out the effects of vitamin A. It’s also important to use sunscreen when using retinol products.

2. For the face: Vitamin C

Your daily glass of orange juice isn’t going to do the trick. In fact, your skin needs a dose of vitamin C right now and then.

Vitamin C is known to brighten skin and reverse damage caused by the sun, the environment and free radicals – known to cause premature aging and pigmentation problems.

If you’re spending hours on the football field, chances are your skin needs some care to deal with all the exposure it’s getting. Check out this amazing vitamin C antiaging serum formula. It’s packed with moisturizers to keep your skin glowing, happy, and supple!

3. For The Body: Moisturizers and Moisturizers

Your face isn’t the only place that needs attention – your body does too. With tight clothing, sweating, exercise and so much more, the skin on our body needs a dose of health every now and then.

Many men have stretch marks due to changes in weight or exercise routine, some even have dry patches that can become chronic if left untreated – luckily, there’s a solution to all of them: Moisturize and hydrate that parched skin!

A Good Skin Care Routine for Men (Summary)

A good grooming routine for men should be simple, effective and tailored to individual skin types and concerns. The first step is cleansing, which is vital to remove dirt, excess oil and impurities that accumulate on the skin during the day. Men should choose a gentle, non-drying cleanser that suits their skin type, whether it’s oily, dry, combination or sensitive. After cleansing, using a toner can help restore the skin’s pH balance, tighten pores, and prepare the skin for subsequent products.

Next comes hydration, a necessary step regardless of skin type. A good moisturizer keeps the skin hydrated, maintains its barrier function and can prevent issues such as dryness or excessive oiliness. Men with oily or acne-prone skin should look for lightweight, non-greasy formulas, while those with dry skin may benefit from richer creams.

Conclusion

In addition to these basic steps, incorporating a sunscreen into your morning routine is crucial to protecting your skin from harmful UV rays, which can cause premature aging and increase your risk of skin cancer. A broad-spectrum sunscreen with an SPF of at least 30 is recommended. Additionally, men should consider adding an exfoliant to their routine 1-2 times a week.

Exfoliation helps remove dead skin cells, unclogs pores and can improve skin texture and appearance, especially important for those who shave regularly. For those looking to address specific concerns such as aging or dark spots, targeted treatments such as serums containing active ingredients such as retinol or vitamin C can be beneficial. Finally, it is important for men to recognize that skin care is not just about products. A healthy diet, adequate hydration and adequate sleep also play an important role in maintaining healthy skin.
