Women Fitness President Ms. Namita Nayyar meets Katie Laura Burnett, super talented fitness athlete and model to talk about her fitness routine, diet and success story.

Namita Nayar:

Where were you born and educated? Later you decided to get involved in fitness modeling and competitive bodybuilding. This later propelled your career to the height where you are the top winner of the PCA (Physical Culture Association) Bodybuilding Bikini competition. Tell us more about your professional journey of extraordinary hard work, perseverance and endurance.

Katie Laura Burnett:

I was born in South UK Portsmouth and have continued to live in Hampshire ever since. I was very lucky to grow up in the countryside. My childhood was mostly spent in fields and forests around nature/animals. My interest in fitness and modeling has been present throughout. I wasn’t raised to be lazy. I went to school and college, then an engineering degree and worked for the MOD for 5 years boat building, then moved into Sports Massage Therapy/ have my own business. Unfortunately I have no secret to share about hard work you want something and you will either work for it or you won’t. I’m proud of what I do. the same applies to fitness and bodybuilding.

Namita Nayar:

The life of a model featured in FHM magazine is a lifelong dream come true. You have been featured INSIDE FHM UK Issue November 2022. Tell us more about this spectacular achievement in your career and the experience of working with the Iconic FHM magazine.

Katie Laura Burnett:

It was a great time to be accepted for publication in FHM. Any post I am extremely grateful. I’ve had a few publications and interviews with many magazines and websites over the years and I’m proud of every single one. Having a record of my improvements over the years is great and knowing that I can inspire others is the best feeling.

Namita Nayar:

You started competing in November 2023. In the Bikini Tall category, First Timers in Hull won 3rd place at the PCA (Physical Culture Association) World Finals. Tell us more about that win and how it catalyzed your meteoric rise in competitive bodybuilding.

Katie Laura Burnett:

Competing in bodybuilding is something I’ve always been told to do, probably because my natural body fat is low, but that makes it harder to build muscle and strength, so I never thought that if I competed I’d still be competitive… After about 10 years watching it change and grow I thought why not, let’s see what happens, I’m not afraid to lose…. So I decided 8 weeks out to see what I could do. Coming third was such a shock that I remember looking down to check my number while walking ahead. I was in the first callout (first half team) so I knew I was in the first half of the 14 girls so I was happy at that point. The trophy was the icing on the cake.

I didn’t feel competitive up there though, I just enjoyed it. I’m long past the stage of needing to beat others, it was to do well for myself and see what I can do and how I can show off a physique that I’ve carried 34 years of life at this point. To me it’s not about bashing others and I doubt it ever will be. In performances you only consider people’s appearance, performance and appearance on the day. You could be against the pros or the newbies. Every show I’ve done I’ve looked back at photos and seen improvements every time, be it posing, stage presence, individual routine, overall look, but it’s worth noting that placement won’t always reflect these factors, these are personal. You have to understand the difference.
