Of Bridgerton time! As we all wait with bated breath for the second half of season three — and all the steamy, smoky, gorgeous eyes we know it will bring — what better way to occupy our time than to browse baby names inspired by the show?

For parents who are so enamored with the show that they’re considering naming their baby after a character, we’ve done a little work to look into the meaning of character names to give you a head start.

Go ahead, whip up some Vitamin String Quartet (or some Pitbull if you choose) and your favorite frozen dessert and enjoy.

Girl names inspired by Bridgerton

Alice means noble. Alice is Will’s wife and is just that—noble. Especially now that her oldest son is, well, literally a member of the nobility now. She wants to make sure her husband gets what he deserves with his new career as a gentleman’s club owner, but she also cares deeply for her children.

of Charlotte name is the feminine version of Charles and means free man—an idea that suits her character as she tries to break free from the incessant gossip. She is the queen in the show. She took on this role because her husband is unwell. She reads Lady Whistledown incessantly and bases her daily feelings on the newspaper gossip. He will do anything to find Whistledown and disown her.

Cressida means gold; if her character’s name connotes a gold medal in trying to make other people miserable, she’s got it covered. She will do anything to get the most suitable and ideal husband. He even pretends to pass out on the show and wants to ruin Daphne’s name.

Laurel, the heroine of the first season, has a few meanings. for some it means winwhile for others it means laurel tree. According to Greek mythology, a nymph turned Daphi into a laurel tree to avoid the unwanted attention of Apollo. In the show, she is Bridgerton’s oldest daughter, meaning she is the first to debut.

Edwina, or “rich friend”, is a great name if you want to secure the gem of the season. And he was a gem, in the second season.

Eloise has a few possible meanings: warrior and healthy. And both of these make sense for her character, full of healthy confidence and fighting the idea that she should get married at all! She plans to be Miss Independent and wants to make a name for herself. (But I hope she lays down her guns (a bit) and becomes friends with Penelope again soon.)

Francesca means Free, and we love it for a free-spirited gal! She doesn’t care if the Queen of England herself is ready to make her a husband, she’ll choose who she wants Thank you very much.

Genevieve is French and means either white wave or simply woman. The women of London will surely flock to Genevieve for her famous dress making skills, so the name is true! In the role of a dressmaker, she deals with all the gossip and romance of the town.

Hyacinth is an amazingly fragrant flower and the name of one of the younger Bridgerton brothers.

Kathani is a lovely name of Hindi origin meaning “declaration”. And a statement is exactly what he does as he catches the eye of Anthony “Bane Of My Existence” Bridgerton.

of Penelope The name comes from Homer’s Odyssey. Her name means ‘weaver’ and that couldn’t be more fitting for our beloved Pena as she weaves off the wall and into the arms of Mr Colin Bridgerton. We can’t wait to see where she weaves herself into the second half of her season!

Philippa is the name given to someone who loves horses. Whether Mr. Finch has dealt with her properly yet remains to be seen.

Portia may have a name derived from the Latin word for Pigalthough other sources say it means special offer. We would like our Portia to special offer a little more politeness if we’re honest! She is also treacherous and hypercritical of her daughters. A lot of drama goes down and she is at the center of it.

Prudence means good sense (although we can’t be sure that applies to the fashion, in her case on the show).

Rae she’s a ewe, or female sheep, which makes sense for Penelope’s handmaiden, who guards her beloved mistress and Colin together on more than one occasion this season.

Siena is a name inspired by a town in Tuscany. Turns out there’s a lot opera in Tuscanyso the name is very fitting for London’s favorite soprano from season one.

Violet she is the matriarch of the Bridgerton family and her name reflects the violet flower or the color purple. He puts pressure on Anthony to fill the role of man of the house.

Boy names inspired by Bridgerton

Anthony he is the eldest of the Bridgeton children. His name means priceless (although according to the characters in the show, it would be more appropriate to call him something that means “scumbag”). It is safe to assume that he is invaluable to Viscountess Kathani Sharma Bridgerton, his wife.

Newlywed means blessed; in Bridgerton’s case, it seems to mean “blessed” with artistic ability. He and his sister Eloise are close (you can see it in their behavior).

Colin’s The meaning of the name is as adorable as it – means puppy! But he’s definitely able to “hang in” with the big dogs by season three – as Benedict says, he’s definitely “robust.”

George means either farmer the Earth. Farmer George is Queen Charlotte’s beloved husband, so this piece is perfect.

Gregory comes from the Greek name “Grigorios”, meaning alert and vigilant. He is the younger Bridgerton.

Marcus is the perfect name for a man ready to go to bed for Violet Bridgerton, as the name literally means ‘warrior’. Here’s hoping Lady Danbury’s brother is ready to find mommy dearest at the wedding!

Philip is a name for someone who loves horses. He is Sir George’s younger brother. He is noble in the sense that he vows to marry Marina and take care of the child because his brother would want to do the same with Marina.

of Simon all the meanings of the name come from its idea listening and listening. And we get it — Daphne could probably listen to him all day!

I will means prostate, and therefore suits our fairy tale boxer! Will is married to Alice and is Simon’s best friend. He will do anything to protect his family and ensure their well-being.
