Across the country, kindergarten students are given the same assignment: “In honor of the 100th day of school, create a project that brings the number 100 to life.”

Also across the country… parents are wondering how on earth they can help their little one with this landmark project. If you need help coming up with 100 day project ideas for kindergarten, you’ve come to the right place! I’ve rounded up a few favorites I’ve seen over the years in hopes of helping you and your little one through one of their first big jobs.

My experience with the “100 Days of School” projects.

“When did this start happening?” asked my friend Jen, as she posted this photo of her daughter on Instagram. None of us are sure of the answer, but if you can’t beat them, you might as well join them.

When Julian was in kindergarten, we used the 100 Days project as an excuse to get crafty. Cut strips of fabric into 100 square pieces (actually, I picked and cut them). We then pinned them to a square piece of fabric. And then we sewed. Not the most amazing art, I know.

We kept it simple. It had just ten stitches all the way through the fabric. In my over-ambitious crafter mind, I was going to turn it into a pillow for him after we brought it home from school, but he’s in second grade now and I haven’t gotten around to it yet.

Then I came home to find that some other crazy pants (and I say “crazy pants” with the utmost respect for their creativity) parents had made these fantastic projects with their kids. Inspired, make a list of ideas for next time! And go…

15 Amazing 100 Day Project Ideas

1. Create a centipede friend with 100 legs

This simple and colorful craft is the perfect way to bring 100 to life! All you need are pipe cleaners and 4″ painted styrofoam balls to create the 100 foot centipede. Of course, some googling would also come in handy. Check out the idea on Pinterest here!

2. “Plant” a pot of lollipop flowers for 100 days of school

I haven’t met a preschool that doesn’t love lollipops. So I bet your little one will be excited to help create this 100 Days of School project (as long as you can keep the lollipops from getting eaten before they get to the classroom)! You will use a planter with foam in it and then glue 100 Dum Dums.

Buy a bag of lollipops here to get started.

3. Create a monster with 100 eyes

This monster is absolutely adorable! I guarantee my little monster, Liv, will want to make this for her next 100th Day of School. All you have to do is cut out a monster and then your little one can help you choose the shape and glue on 100 googly eyes!

After all, nothing beats a good pun. “The eye has seen 100 days!”

4. Fill a gum print with 100 “Gums”

If you want to keep it cute and simple, this is a great way to liven up 100. However, I will swap out the paper cutouts colorful pom poms!

5. Up And Away 100 Day Project

I love the idea of creating a cape for your kindergartner to wear at the 100 day celebration. No one knows better than this mom that 100 days really do fly by!

6. 100 melted crayons

This project may be messy, but it sure looks cool! You simply glue the crayons to a poster board and then hold a hair dryer over them. Here’s a great creative example from Pinterest!

7. Handmake 100 Days T-shirts with Tally Marks

The idea is simple, now you just have to decide how you want to do it. The first step; choose a plain white t-shirt. Then either iron or pull with 100 degrees. Check out more details on this craft here!

Gift; will help your child learn to count by 5!

8. Create a Crown Fit Sticker for royalty
