Finally, your stylish new BODi bike has arrived. Your shoes are tight, your towel and water bottle are close at hand. You are 100 percent ready to experience the amazing, fully personalized, studio quality cycling experience at home that only BODi Bike and BODi Bike Studio cycling can provide.

But before you hit the virtual road, you’ll want to take a few minutes to make sure your new bike is properly set up and adjusted for you. This ensures an excellent workout, maximum comfort and reduced risk of injury.

How to set up your new MYX bike

If you’re going to be spending hours in the saddle every week, it helps to make sure your bike seat and handlebars are properly fitted. See how you can fully customize your bike to make it the perfect fit for you.

Seat height

The goal in this step is to adjust your seat to the height of your hip bone.

  • Stand next to your bike seat with your feet flat on the floor. Next, lift the knee closest to the seat and place your palm on top of your thigh, on your hip.

If your seat is higher or lower than your palm, you’ll want to adjust the seat height accordingly.

To adjust the seat height:

  • Find the pin located at the base of the slide bar and turn the knob until the seat post is loose. Be sure to support the seat with your other hand as you pull the pin and adjust the seat height.
  • Once you find the desired height, release the pin to lock into the correct location hole and tighten the knob until you hear a click to secure it in place.

Seat depth

Place your elbow on the nose of the seat (the forward facing part) and extend your forearm forward – your fingertips should not just graze the base of your handlebars.

To adjust the seat forward or backward:

  • Locate the knob under the seat and loosen it to move the seat to the desired depth.
  • Repeat the finger test to make sure the seat is properly adjusted, then tighten the knob again to make sure your seat is secure.

Steering wheel height

The handlebars must be at seat height or higher. If you prefer a more upright position (or if you’re pregnant), you may want to position your handlebars higher for more comfort.

To adjust the handlebar height:

  • Have another person support the weight of the steering wheel underneath, then loosen the knob and pull the pin out to disengage it from the locating hole.
  • Raise or lower the bars to a comfortable position, then release the pin to lock into the position hole at the height of your choice and tighten the button to secure it in place.

Steering wheel depth

For comfort, you may want to adjust the depth of your handlebars using the knob in the center of the bars.

To adjust the handlebar depth:

  • Loosen the knob and slide the steering wheel to the position that feels best.
  • Once you find the right spot, turn the knob back to secure the handlebar in place.

Before you get on the bike

An important safety reminder: Make sure the area around your bike is clear of any obstacles that could get in the way. Keep children, pets and any objects away from the bike. When you pedal, the wheels move quickly and can be dangerous if blocked.

BODi Bike’s pedals are dual access. One side features cages, which will work with any training shoe, while the other side is integrated with SPD clips, which are made specifically for cycling shoes.

As for your footwear, we recommend cycling shoes for improved stability and safety on the bike. Before buying cycling shoes, make sure they are compatible with SPD clips and be sure to follow the instructions that come with them to properly position the slots on the bottom of each shoe.

If you don’t wear cycling shoes, hard-soled sneakers that tie into cages are a good alternative. If you wear sneakers with laces, make sure the laces are tied and taped. When all of that is done, you’re ready to get on the bike.

How to safely clip or clip onto your BODi bike

BODi Bike supports the use of either cycling shoes or normal training shoes. Here’s how to secure your feet to the pedals.

Buckle with cycling shoes

  • Stand on top of the bike with your feet on either side of it. Make sure the pedal you clip on is in its lowest position, flat and with the clip side up.
  • With your foot on the pedal, slide the webbing lip down into the pedal until you hear a click, then press your heel down.
  • Once you hear a second click, you know the bracket is secure. Once this is done, sit down and attach the other shoe in the same way.

Commitment to sports shoes

  • Stand on top of the bike with your feet on either side of it.
  • Place one foot on the pedal cage, with the widest part of your foot over the pedal shaft, then sit on your bike. Place the other leg on the other cage.
  • One at a time, slowly reach down and pull the straps to tighten the pedal cage. You’ll want a snug fit, but it shouldn’t feel uncomfortably tight.
  • Pass the excess strap through the clip and, if desired, pull it away.

Testing your bike settings

These are a few things to look for when determining the right feel for your bike.

Seat height

Once your feet are locked, extend one leg so that pedal is at the six o’clock position. What you’re looking for is a slight bend in the knee of your extended leg.

  • If the bend in your leg is too much, you will need to raise the seat.
  • If your leg is straight with no bend in your knee, you will need to lower the seat.

Seat depth

Once your feet are locked, bring one foot forward to the three o’clock position – your kneecap should be over the center of your foot.

  • If your knee is in front of the ball of your foot, you will need to move the seat back.
  • If the ball of your foot is in front of your knee, you will need to move the seat forward.

Steering wheel position

Place your hands on the outside corners of the handlebars and check to make sure you have a slight bend in your elbows.

  • If your arms are straight, raise the steering wheel.
  • If your arms are too bent, lower the handlebars.

If you are tall and your seat is all the way back and you feel like you need to move the steering wheel further away, you can make this adjustment by loosening the knob on top of the steering wheel and sliding it away from you to reach the steering wheel. desired depth. Once in place, tighten the knob again.

Getting off your bike

To get off your bike safely, unclip or unclip one leg at a time.

If you are unfastening your cycling shoes:

  • Make sure one pedal is in its lowest position. Turn your heel out, then pull your foot up and away from the pedal.
  • Then, drop your other leg into the lowest position, placing the first leg flat on the ground. From there, you’ll unclip your other leg.

If you wear normal sports shoes,

  • Make sure one pedal is in its lowest position. Loosen the cage strap, then slowly slide your foot out and onto the ground.
  • Repeat this on the other side.

Congratulations! That’s all you need to know to start riding your new BODi bike! If you share this bike, we recommend that you note your settings so that you can quickly and easily reset your bike before use.

See you in class!
