The December holiday season is upon us and predictably, everywhere we turn there is another table full of food and social gatherings ranging from office holiday parties to family gatherings.

It’s very easy for you to lose track of your healthy lifestyle during the holidays. If not taken care of, you could overeat, over drink and avoid physical activity.

The December holidays aren’t an excuse to give up on your healthy lifestyle choices, it’s a time to stay extra healthy.

That’s why you need to know these health tips for the December holidays. This article will outline and explain some practical yet beneficial tips to help you stay healthy during the December holidays.

Here are some useful health tips to follow during the festive holiday season of December.

1. Manage stress effectively

It is very common for many people to feel stressed during the December holidays.

The pressure to attend gatherings, festivals and meetings can be particularly demanding.

Then, coupled with the pressure to get gifts for your loved ones. All these pressures can definitely lead you to stress.

Therefore, one of the best health tips for December is to manage your stress effectively.

How do you do that; Give yourself a break whenever you feel stressed, overwhelmed, out of control and tired. Plan ahead and use your time wisely.

Some others are better ways to manage stress to find support, practice meditationconnect socially and get lots of sleep whenever you can.

2. Stay active

The holiday season is usually filled with many activities. These activities can prevent you from doing one of the healthiest activities your body needs, which is exercise.

To stay active during the holidays, you need to make time for exercise. Thirty to forty minutes a day will do your body a lot of good.

What if you can’t seem to find time to exercise during the holidays? You’ll have to improvise.

Take chances to dance as much as you can. dance it’s a great way to stay active. You should also talk about short walks when you run.

3. Eat healthy and in moderation

There’s sure to be plenty of food to be had this December holiday. But if you want to stay healthy during the holidays, you need to eat healthy foods and eat in moderation too.

How can you achieve this? One way is to resist the urge to overeat, don’t eat more than your body needs. Then incorporate fruits and vegetables into every meal you prepare.

You should also be ready to say no when you are offered a lot of food to eat and when you are offered junk food.

4. Drink alcohol in moderation

December’s holiday cheer should have you overdoing the alcohol.

Excessive amounts of alcohol in the body can have unhealthy effects. So watch the amount of alcohol you consume this festive season.

Also, you should never drink and drive, or even attempt to. If you know you will be drinking alcohol at an event ask someone else who hasn’t been drinking to drive you home.

Remember that your health and safety should be your priority during this time, not just having a good time.

5. Maintain proper hygiene

It is equally vital for you to maintain good hygiene during the December holidays.

This includes washing your hands regularly with soap or hand sanitizer. You should also make sure that the dishes are washed and cleaned daily. Also keep your environment clean and healthy.

6. Watch your children

If you are a parent, now is the time to give more than usual attention to your children. Keep track of your children’s movements during these December holidays.

Keep dangerous toys, food, drinks, household items and other potentially harmful items away from children.

Take all necessary measures to protect them from choking, burning, falling, losing and any other possible accidents.

7. Avoid passive smoking
