From food to relationships, everywhere we turn there is one toxic or another threatening to infiltrate some part of our lives. But you don’t have to accept toxins in your skincare. Not when you have Sally B’s Skin Yummies in your corner.

Start replacing “toxic” with “non-toxic” by choosing skincare products that don’t contain ingredients and chemicals that can be harmful to your health. Sally B’s Skin Yummies collection of moisturizers, serums and balms are made with natural, organic and sustainable ingredients. They are free of parabens, sulfates, phthalates, synthetic fragrances and artificial colors – ingredients that can negatively affect the health and appearance of your skin.

Why Avoid Potentially Harmful Personal Care Products?

For starters, there are no strict regulations to serve as guardrails for the personal care industry. Very common in the industry are companies that use affordable, chemical ingredients and misleading marketing claims to benefit their bottom line.

Also, take for example some of the potentially toxic ingredients we mentioned above. Once you learn more about them, it makes sense to avoid them whenever possible:

  • Parabens – Parabens are the most commonly used skin care preservative (mainly because of their low cost), yet they have been linked to breast cancer. In fact, a 2012 study published in The Journal of Applied Toxicology found parabens in nearly 100% of all breast cancers studied. How to spot them: search for the word paraben. It often starts with ethyl-, methyl-, propyl-, butyl-.
  • Divinely – Sulfates are known skin irritants and hormone disruptors, but they can still be found in countless foaming and hair care products. How to spot them: look for sodium lauryl sulfate (SLES), sodium lauryl sulfate (SLS), ammonium lauryl sulfate (ALES), and ammonium lauryl sulfate (ALS).
  • Fragrance – The term “fragrance” appearing on a product’s label can indicate that any number of toxic ingredients have been used, including phthalates. These “hidden” ingredients are used to give the fragrance more staying power, but they are known hormone disruptors (especially in men) and can affect brain development. Artificial fragrance ingredients are also known to cause allergies, dizziness, headaches and skin rashes. Learn more about the fragrance by clicking here. How to spot it: Look for “fragrance” in ingredient lists, ethylene oxide or dibutyl phthalate (DBP, DEP, butyl ester)

What you can do to promote clear and healthy skin

Instead of covering up blemished, irritated or aging skin with chemical makeup, opt for alternatives made with careful and intentional formulations. These non-toxic skincare products are gentle, nourishing and healing. And when used daily, these products give your skin an enviably natural look while enhancing its overall well-being for years to come.

5 reasons why switching to non-toxic skin care products is the sustainable and smart choice

We all have unique health journeys, but a non-toxic skincare routine benefits everyone.

  1. Protect your skin. Non-toxic skincare products are free of chemicals and potentially toxic ingredients. By using non-toxic skin care products, you can minimize the risk of skin irritation, allergies and long-term damage to your skin.
  2. Promote skin health from deep within. Many conventional skin care products contain ingredients such as parabens, sulfates, and phthalates, which have been linked to potential health concerns. By choosing non-toxic skin care, you can reduce your exposure to these potentially harmful substances.
  3. Make a positive environmental impact. Non-toxic skin care is mainly based on nature and responsible ingredients, which are better for the environment. Everything you wear and wash off your body returns to our waterways and soil layers, so it’s important not to introduce chemicals into these important systems.
  4. Embrace the healing properties of nature. Throughout history, people have discovered and used various plants for their healing properties. From herbs like chamomile and lavender for relaxation to aloe vera for soothing skin conditions, there is a rich tradition of natural remedies around the world. The intentional incorporation of these ingredients into Sally B’s skin care products enables them to enrich and potentially heal the skin.
  5. Versatility. Because nature’s ingredients have more than one beneficial property, most of Sally B’s Skin Yummies are effective in more ways than one. Our antioxidant day serum hydrates and protects against free radicals. Tinted Moisturizer hydrates, soothes the skin and serves as the first layer of sun protection. The use of flexible products not only reduces the time spent on the daily routine, but is also more affordable.

Switching to non-toxic products is easy!

Switching to non-toxic ingredients doesn’t have to be overwhelming. Most of Sally B’s Skin Yummies products are suitable for most skin types, allowing new users to feel confident about choosing a new product for their skincare routine. We usually recommend Tamanu Luxury Facial Cleanser as the best product for those starting their non-toxic journey. Softer, clearer skin is quickly noticeable, which helps us prove that non-toxic skin care products are worth it.
