Men tend to avoid skincare and unfortunately, end up missing out on the benefits of what a great skincare routine can bring. As men age, their skin begins to change and needs care. As with anything you do, skin care requires consistency.

Here’s what a typical skin care routine for men should look like.

Cleaning

Washing your face twice a day is vital for all genders. Cleansing your face in the morning gives you a new glowing and fresh start to the day and your skin! Also, since you start each day with a clean slate, why not let your skin end on a fresh note, too? Washing your face at night before you go to bed prevents dirt and pollution from entering your pores throughout the night, ensuring your face looks clean and healthy!

The best choice for men is a mild foaming cleanser as it helps reduce excess oil from the surface of their skin and even makes shaving easier. Additionally, if you don’t have sensitive skin, you can also opt for an exfoliating cleanser.

However, one thing to remember is not to wash your face too often as it can end up stripping your skin of its natural oils.

Exposure to free radicals causes oxidative stress, causing the health of your skin to deteriorate over time. This is especially true for men who often play sports and play under the sun. In addition, oxidative stress is also caused by air pollution, cigarette smoke and industrial chemicals.

So, before the health and appearance of your skin starts to deteriorate, you need to focus on maintaining your skin. You can do this by using a good antioxidant serum such as Vit C serum which helps reduce any present damage and prevents any future damage.

Serums are targeted treatments that help hydrate and hydrate your skin deep within the layers, improving its overall health and appearance. The best time to apply a serum is after shaving and before moisturizing your face.

Skin care requires consistency. it’s not one time. You can expect to apply moisturizer one day and expect your skin to be perfect for the rest of the years. However, developing a skincare routine can be rather daunting, especially since you don’t know what to use or do.

So what does 2020 have in store for men’s grooming?

1. For the face: Retinol

This exfoliant is derived from vitamin A and helps accelerate collagen production and cell renewal. Retinol moisturizers are buzzing for their rejuvenating effects and how they inhibit the aging process and reduce acne and blemishes.

Next comes hydration, a necessary step regardless of skin type. A good moisturizer keeps the skin hydrated, maintains its barrier function and can prevent issues such as dryness or excessive oiliness. Men with oily or acne-prone skin should look for lightweight, non-greasy formulas, while those with dry skin may benefit from richer creams.
