How a crisis of ingredients led to the best physical form of our deodorant stick

If you have participated in the Woohoo Fam for a while, you will know that we are serious For our deodorant.

Not only in the kind of way (it does), but in “this is our baby and we love it as if it has a heartbeat”.

So when we hit a wave of component deficiencies recently (and we’re talking significantly), we had two options:

  1. Panic and pray for miracles of the supply chain.
  2. Pull our sleeves, hit the lab and see if we could turn a disaster into a deodorant glow.

We chose Option 2 (obviously). And what started as a moment “oh nooooo” has become something we really are so proud of.

This is the story of the way in which a supply chain race leads to the best natural deodorants we have ever made.

It all started with coconut …

We used beautifully organic coconut oil To our types from the beginning. It was nutritious, natural and gave our deo that the smooth, silky texture we (and you) loved.

Then the emails began to rolle from our suppliers who tell us that there were shortages of global offerings and there was nothing really we could do for it.

*Cue the Sad Violins*

But here’s the thing … we already used Mct oil (a derivative of coconut) in our formula. So, instead of horrifying out, as soon as we hit the MCT levels and gradually we gradually removed the coconut oil.

The result?

Still silky. Still effective. Still loving the skin.

We have lost a certified biological ingredient from our deodorant, but the performance? Unchanged, if not better.

Then came Candelilla candle crisis …

This was pinched.

Candelilla Wax was one of the ingredients of our hero. The thing that helped the sticks packaged by cardboard stay firmly and slip smoothly.

But then the gods of the supply chain went completely soap opera on us.

Mexico (where most of the candle Candelilla is cultivated) was hit with climate issues. Invoices have changed. Export schedules are stretched from weeks to … well, maybe in September, maybe ever.

We managed to pull enough candle to keep things moving in the short term, but we knew we needed a B. plan quickly.

We tried the Sunflower Wax and while it looked ok on paper, the reality was messy. It mainly grows in Russia and Ukraine, where geopolitical instability makes it consistent to offer extremely dangerous.

Enter: rice wax.

A by -product of rice processing, with sustainable derived, vegan, without cruelty and as it turns out, a absolute dream In our formula.

Not only does it give the sticks a beautiful smooth slip, also solved one of the issues we die to correct:

There are no other stuck sticks !!!

That’s right. Rice pizza wax helps release the deodorant part easily from the tube without the floor you may have experienced in colder weather.

Clay is out, bamboo is in

Then we had to face a problem with Kaolin Clay.

It has been part of our formula for years. Great in absorption of moisture, extremely effective and technically physically.

But … it also comes with an catch.

Although Kaolin is mined directly from the ground, it may contain trace elements of Earth’s metals, including aluminum. Not the species used in antiperspirants (aluminum salts, which we never use), but still did not sit with us properly.

So we made the call to exchange it for something better:

Bamboo powder.

It is extremely absorbent, renewable and does not carry heavy metal luggage. Win, win, win.

Goodbye Zinc Oxidis, Dream Team Hi

For years, we have used zinc oxide to help soften the skin and reduce irritation. The same type of zinc found in natural creams and sunscreen.

But while zinc oxide can be wonderful (especially as sunscreen), it gets some bad type from applications such as “Yuka” as unsafe.

Although we do not agree with all that Yuka has to say, we would prefer woohoo not to have ingredients “toast, so we decided to add a new dynamic twin:

  • Zinc – A powerful natural degradist who traps and neutralizes odor molecules. AKA, Bo’s worst nightmare.
  • Jojoba esters -To keep things slip into silky smoothly, with a skin barrier bonus. Does not cause white streaks or skin trauma. Exactly butter-murmur 🙂

Your armpits will definitely notice the difference (in a good way).

Magnesium gets a glow

You know we are big fans of magnesium Around here, especially for our sensitive types.

In this recasting, we have upgraded magnesium to some of our classic perfumes (Tango, Mellow, Urban, Surf) in the same extremely thin, extremely high quality magnesium you know and love from limited edition bestsellers (such as Drift and Jingle).

It’s smoother. Is more effective. It’s a real crowd.

Bonus: Urban and Surf (our regular power choices) now include a Complex bicarb and magnesiuminstead of bicarb. So you get the best of both worlds: power and comfort.

But more in this in our next blog.

Wild gets a makeover

And finally, a note for the wild natural deodorant fans.

Due to the limited myrtle of honey, we decided to make a sting on the fragrance.

Changed Myrtle for immediately available Lemon. A perfect exchange for a vibrant, sustainable renewal.

And Balm for Vanilla For a warm, soft finish. This switch was made because Peru Balsam was recently highlighted in the EU as a possible allergen and allergies are very un-woohoo.

The new fragrance is a little different (but not too much) and our testers gush over the update. It has the same atmosphere, but an even fresh lemon aroma.

If you’ve worn wildly for years, we think you’ll love this new version as well.

What does this mean?

Well, in short:

Our new sticks are smoother, stronger and more bo-busting than ever.

We maintained what it worked. It was upgraded what not. And a whole loving lotta (and fun) has been spilled to make sure these sticks are something you will be proud to use daily.

And if you are wondering, yes, they are available to shop now. Suitable for any kind. The heavy sweaters, the sensitive souls, the intermediate, the wooho fanatics.

👉 Buy the new sticks here and live the kindness!

Thanks for stuck with us (it was absolutely intended).

This trip had some sweaty moments, but we spent it. And honestly? We think these are our best sticks yet!

PSST … we’re not over.

Our deodorant pastes are next for a big makeover.

Wait the same magic that he loves, only with more brilliance.

So watch this space. Your armpits never had it so well.
