You can call them tiger stripes if you want, but when the time comes: no woman wants stretch marks But unfortunately, it’s an annoying fact of life, like pubic hair and a lowered metabolism. According to BabyCenter, at least half of women will get these silvery scars during pregnancy (although that sounds like a very modest estimate to me!).

Look mom, no stretch marks!

That being said, I’ll give you a guess as to what we’re up to #1 customer inquiries it’s about. Are moms-to-be more concerned about trying to prevent morning sickness or increase your breast milk supply? Maybe a nursing nipple butter for your chapped nipples? Nah. The most common concern expressed by our mom is:

How to prevent stretch marks during pregnancy

I’ve compiled the most popular questions our moms have asked about our Tummy Butter Stretch Mark Lotion. It’s everything you ever wanted to know to keep those tiger stripes far, far away!

Answered: Your top questions about belly butter for stretch marks

Q: I am only in my first trimester of pregnancy. I don’t have stretch marks yet, but I’m very worried about getting them! How soon can I start using Tummy Butter and Bump Gloss? (Janice P., California)

A: Hi Janice, congratulations on your pregnancy! You can start using both products as soon as you want. As they say: Prevention is the BEST medicine. It’s never too early.

Q: I’m four months pregnant (with my first, yay!), and I use your Tummy Butter every day! Not a stretch mark yet but wondering if you have any advice on other things I can do too? (Mara K., Illinois)

A: One reason women get stretch marks during pregnancy is that their skin doesn’t moisturize enough. Simple solution? Drink plenty of water! With the hot summer months, it is recommended that pregnant women drink 80 oz of water daily! Also, be sure to massage the belly cream into your skin to increase blood circulation and help with skin elasticity! Do you love lavender? Try our Pregnancy Safe Bump Gloss Stretch Mark Oil!

Q: What causes itchy belly during pregnancy? I heard that hot showers can cause it – is this true? (Jessie B., Texas)

A: We agree 💯%!! Hot baths and showers can lead to dry skin and dry pregnancy skin = scratching. DO NOT scratch! Scratching can easily tear your fragile developing belly, breasts and hips…Try gently patting your belly, use exfoliating mitts in the shower, or use a moisturizing sugar scrub in the shower to relieve any itching. Oatmeal baths also work great if you can handle a lukewarm bath. Another tip is to keep your body hydrated from the inside out by drinking water and avoiding caffeinated beverages.

RELIEF OF STOMACH BURNING

Q: I am pregnant with my second child and suffer from severe morning sickness. I want to use Tummy Butter for stretch marks but I’m afraid I might get sick. What does it smell like? (Anne D., New York)

A: Great question, Anna! Many moms-to-be naturally worry about introducing potentially irritating odors into themselves pregnancy skin care routine. Cacao Butter Tummy Butter is flavored with orange essential oils — many say the end result smells like orange chocolate! If you find lavender more soothing, try Bump Gloss Pregnancy Stretch Mark Oil! (And if you’re REALLY suffering, try Happy Mornings Sippin’ Tea — an all-natural, organic solution to help ease and reduce nausea during pregnancy.)

Q: I had my baby four months ago and I have stretch marks on my stomach and thighs!! I wish I knew about your product sooner! Can I still use your belly butter? (Lita N., New York)

A: Good news, Lita. It may not be too late! If your stretch marks are new (purple-red in color, raised) then cocoa butter for scars will definitely help with healing AND fade them out.

Q: Quick question… I’m really interested in using belly butter and was wondering how long an 8oz container usually lasts? (Brandi J., North Dakota)

A: The short answer is: it depends on each woman (ie how often do you apply? how much do you apply at a time? how many parts of your body do you put it on?). That being said, I would definitely recommend the 8 oz if you are early in your pregnancy. However, keep in mind that butter works great for postpartum stretch marks as well as helping c-section scars heal and fade.

Q: Does your Tummy Butter work on women of any ethnicity? (Laurie P., Florida)

Oh yes! Our Tummy Butter doesn’t discriminate!

Q: What is the difference between belly butter and oil? Which one is the best? (Adriana, New Mexico)

A: We may be biased, but both products are great at what they do. They can be used separately, but are also great together. Tummy Butter is a cream that comes in a jar. Bump Gloss is an oil that comes in a bottle. To help prevent stretch marks, we recommend Tummy Butter & Bump Gloss Stretch Mark Oil. Tummy Butter can be applied to all stretch mark prone areas (abdomen, hips, chest, thighs, wherever you feel you’re growing) in the afternoon, evening or both.

Tummy Butter and Bump Gloss are recommended to be used together (package & store) as each contains oils proven to help prevent stretch marks and fade scars. Please note that your application process will depend on what fits your schedule. If you start to feel like you have an itchy belly, apply the belly butter, or if your skin starts to feel dry later in the day, apply the butter or oil.

We recommend using the Bump Gloss Oil in the morning (on all areas listed above if needed) while still wet in the shower (be aware that the shower floor can be slippery). Since it’s an oil – a little goes a long way, but you want to make sure that while you’re massaging with any oil or butter, you’re doing it gently, but keep in mind that the “massage” is what’s going to bring the blood flow to the surface, and this will also help prevent stretch marks.

If you are early in your pregnancy, you may not need much of either product. As you get older, you will need to apply the butter and/or oil at least twice a day to prevent stretch marks. Most of our customers (depending on whether you are carrying a singleton or multiples) usually buy a small amount in the early stages and a larger amount later, and this can last throughout your pregnancy.

If you have questions on the removal of stretch marks that I haven’t addressed it here, leave me a comment below! Have a great week mom!
