If you’ve ever typed “psychiatric drugs have destroyed my life” on Google, you are not alone-and you deserve better answers from ClickBait based on fear. I hear from many people, generally part of special interest groups, who believe that psychic drugs are bad, psychiatrists are bad or psychologists are bad. When groups like Scientology do not lead these ideas, these statements of hatred often come from negative personal experiences with entertainment or psychiatric/psychology. Often, these people are emotionally immersed because they didn’t like how the drug or other form of treatment went. I understand it. Once it is burned, twice an antipsychiatric, I guess.

Mental drugs: Why hate?

When you connect yourself to nodes, live through painful mental treatments and do things you never thought you would do to improve and then you No Be better, you get bitter. I would say it is quite normal and understandable. I have certainly experienced this (though I am very reasonable and even-minded to present the fanatical attitude of others).

But here’s the thing: Psychiatry is no more bad than any other branch of medicine. Psychiatrists do exactly the best they can with their tools. (And yes, I wish they had better tools.)

Let us not forget, the oncologists fight cancer with literal poison and treatments that can kill you. They just hope to kill cancer before the patient. No one claims these It’s bad.

When psychiatry fails

If we take me as an example, I had a lot of unpleasant interactions with the mental health sector:

  • I had a psychiatrist not to hear with me or my symptoms, which led to a wrong diagnosis.
  • I had the doctors not to care about the painful side effects I lived in.
  • Psychiatrists have usually not attended my blood pressure or weight, even when it is a standard practice as defined by prescription information for many antipsychotics.
  • I didn’t know the dyskinesia and diabetes Risks with antipsychotics.
  • I had a doctor to activate my nerve stimulus five times higher than they should be, causing large amounts of pain and trauma.
  • I had psychiatrists to refuse to deal with me because “[I’ve] Try every treatment and none of them worked. What is the meaning on you [me] Do you have a doctor? ”

It is given, this sounds very bad. I understand it. Completely. But keep in mind, some of these things could have been avoided by me and we are talking about more than 20 years. Things are happening in 20 years.

Positive about psychiatry and recreational drugs

I could list others such as the quality of life and quality of Skydive, but when it comes down to it, not being dead is really the key.

What groups of antipsychiatry don’t tell you

Usually I don’t call people or groups on my blog. This is because I do not want to deal with a ridiculous flame war. I like to live and let me live. But sincerely, the Scientologists and the antipsychiatric groups like they hurt the mentally ill so serious that they cannot be ignored.

Lies and misinformation from a group of scorer

An important website of Scientology I will not name (and their connection to Scientology is hidden) has articles like the following from 2025:

  1. Treatment or torture: the truth about electrosock – Electrosmotherapy (ECT) is one of their favorite boogeymen. I can understand why. It’s a difficult treatment and some people had bad experiences. This is nowhere close to torture. It is a medical procedure given while the patient is under general anesthesia. A recent study showed that ECT has been associated with a 50% reduction in suicide risk in patients with depression in the year after their hospitalization. This is particularly impressive, as the ECT tends to be given to patients in the worst situations and have failed many treatments. (Yes, I have undergone this treatment.)
  2. Psychiatric disorders are not medical diseases – Psychiatric disorders are medical disorders. And while they cannot be detected with biomarkers yet (researchers work on it), this applies to many other real medical issues such as migraines. No one says that migraines are not real despite the fact that there is no biological proof of their existence (because there are no special interest groups dedicated to their frustration).
  3. Brain is not the real cause of life’s problems – Well, that depends. When you have trouble in life, it is not necessarily caused by your brain. Can be divorce. A death. Or one of the myriad other things. But that does not mean that the brain cannot be the cause (or the main cause) of some people’s problems. (as for those facing a bipolar incident). And we understand more and more every day for the Functional and structural differences in the brain of those with diseases such as bipolar disorder. Yes, your brain box Causing your problems.
  4. Children’s medicine: psychiatric destruction of lives – No one wants to put a child on medicines. None. Parents are fighting for this choice. But the fact is that some children need medicines to operate at school and at home. I do not think I should tell you that any medicine approved for use in children should show benefit according to many studies undergoing food and medicines. But if you want to get into weeds about what psychotropic drugs do in the brains of the children, you can See here. I have also written specifically for children in lithium. Some children need medicines, as some adults do.
  5. Community disaster: The forced “Care of Psychiatry” – This is probably the most ridiculous claim. Where I live, and in most cities, people who experience a lack of roof are dye For more psychiatric care. This is a piece of an older number but I suspect it has only worsened: it has been estimated that 25% of people who are homeless have serious mental illness and 45% have each insanity. If these people could get adequate treatment and help get off the road, that would be no doubt improve the community, not destruction the.

Note, when I make a claim above, it is supported by science. When antipsychians are claiming, supported by what, a feeling? ” An anecdote? The problem with this is that I can find an anecdote or a feeling that says anything. Anecdotes and emotions do not really make things true. That is why science is studying the disease – so we know what is true. All anti -psychiatry is the fear based on little or no data.

Here are some additional thoughts on antipsychiatry.

Some doctors do bad things

I would never suggest that there are no bad, abusive, deceitful, money -focused, unknown doctors, psychiatrists or psychologists out there. They are like any other part of the population: some of them are producers of their profession, and some of them are certainly not. And those who violate the law must surely be persecuted, like anyone else.

But really, based on the opinion of a whole field of medicine on the minority that hurts others is like getting food poisoning in a restaurant and then never going to eat again because “all restaurants are out to make you get sick”.

Psychiatry and Psychology have saved 1000 lives

I could write an article every day forever about how many people have saved psychiatry. I know that bad groups of special interests refuse it, but every day, people are helped by mental health professionals.

There is a mental illness

One of the most aggressive lies these people say is that mental illness does not exist. Again, I could fill an entire book that proves the physical nature of mental illness, but for now, I will simply connect with an in -depth explanation of what we know about the pathophysiology of bipolar.

Psychiatry and Psychology have saved my life

I’m not joking about it. For all their defects, of which there are many, I would not have survived so much without psychiatry, psychological drugs and psychology. In addition, I would not have experienced the quality of life I have had for the last decades.

Of course, now it’s not the best time for me. Now, psychiatry has a very difficult time with me. Now, things look gloomy. But current failure does not destroy the success of the past. It is very likely that you will get rid of some cancer just to reappear years later. This is not because the doctor did something wrong per se, it is just that we all work with the best tools we have and are far from perfect.

If you want to hate entertainment medicines, psychiatrists and psychologists, you are quite free to do so. I’m not going to pull you violently on an appointment. But to assume claims that they essentially claim that psychiatry and psychology are bad and that mental illness does not exist must be unexpected, anxious, ignorant and ultimately extremely harmful to the people around you.

In short, stop spreading this vitriolic hatred that stops mentally ill who really need help from getting it.

If this article has helped you, share it. Someone you know may need evidence more than fear.
