Do you no longer feel pleasure during sex or masturbation? Does your penis fail to get an erection, even when you are mentally and sexually aroused? Are you experiencing a sudden and sudden decrease in interest in sex?

If your penile sensitivity is preventing you from having satisfying sex, you’re not alone. Many men face this issue of libido and a large part of them choose to keep quiet about them altogether.

As embarrassing as it is, talking to a doctor about your loss of sensation is vital to being able to help you overcome your condition.

But if you want to try to fix your problems at home first, that’s fine too. Here are some ways you can restore reduced penile sensitivity and enjoy your intimate moments in the bedroom.

What causes loss of penile sensation?

Penile sensitivity can be affected by various factors, both physical and psychological.

Here are some common factors that can lead to loss of penile sensitivity.

  • Age: Decreased function of nerves and sensory forms it can come with age.
  • Medical conditions: Conditions such as diabetes and peripheral neuropathy can lead to reduced sensitivity due to nerve damage. Heart disease or peripheral artery disease can also cause reduced penile sensitivity due to disturbances in blood flow.
  • Damage: Injury to the penis can cause erectile dysfunction and loss of penile sensation.
  • Surgery or trauma: Any trauma to the groin or surgical procedures, such as circumcision, can potentially reduce penile sensitivity.
  • Medicines: Certain medications such as corticosteroids and Ganglion blockers may cause a decrease in penile sensitivity.
  • Psychological factors: Stress, anxiety, depression and other mental health conditions can also affect penile sensitivity.
  • Lifestyle factors: Drinking, smoking and using illegal drugs can affect nerve function and circulation, leading to reduced penile sensitivity.
  • Overstimulation: Regular and excessive sexual activities or masturbation can cause decreased sensitivity.

Remember, any changes in penile sensitivity should be discussed with a healthcare provider. They can determine the underlying cause and appropriate treatment.

How to increase penile sensitivity

Tired of innocent sex? Here are some ways you can increase penile sensitivity to bring pleasure back into the bedroom.

1. Fire The Vices

Smoking cigarettes and drinking alcohol may feel good, but be warned: they are quite harmful to your sex life.

For example, drinking too much alcohol can cause long-term nerve damage because of it depressant effects on the nerves and brain.

Nicotine, a vasoconstrictor, also has negative effects on cognitive and neural function. This is because cigarettes contain chemicals that can damage blood vessels and cause them to swell and become inflamed.

Additionally, these two vices can also disrupt your brain’s mood receptors, which can inhibit your ability to feel absolute pleasure.

If you want to improve your sex life, start by eliminating the vices from your life.

2. Do Kegel exercises

While Kegel exercises are often associated with women, they are just as beneficial for men, particularly when it comes to improving penile sensitivity and enhancing sexual performance.

Kegels focus on the pelvic floor muscles that support the bladder, bowel and sexual functions. Strengthening these muscles can increase blood flow to the penile area, improve erection quality, and increase orgasmic contractions. All these factors lead to improved sexual sensations.

To do Kegels, first, you’ll need to locate your pelvic floor muscles. These are the muscles you use to stop the flow of urine. Once you locate these muscles, contract them and hold them for a few seconds, then release. Repeat this exercise several times throughout the day.

Over time, as your pelvic floor muscles strengthen, you’ll find that your erections are harder and last longer, and your orgasms are more intense. However, like any exercise, it’s important to stay consistent to reap the benefits.

3. Reevaluate how you exercise

Reevaluate how you exercise

We cannot stress how important exercise is. Exercise promotes good blood flow, which is vital in minimizing penile numbness.

In general, cardiovascular and aerobic exercises are good ways to improve blood flow.

However, if you find yourself cycling too much, you are unwittingly putting too much pressure on your vagus nerve. This increased pressure can cause the penis to not be as sensitive as before.

Therefore, exercise, but exercise moderately. For the elderly, it is recommended that you exercise approx 150 minutes per week.

4. Change sex positions

Do you and your partner have sex positions? If so, try switching things up from time to time.

Attachment to same-sex positions can lead to a predictable pattern of arousal, which could contribute to decreased interest (and reduced penile sensitivity) over time.

Experimenting with different sex positions can introduce new and varied forms of stimulation, which could help increase sensitivity. In addition to the positions themselves, try varying the pace, depth, and movement to enhance bedroom stimulation.

Sex positions that stimulate the frenulum, or the underside of the base of the penis, are especially ideal for extremely pleasurable sex. Missionary, reverse cowgirl, and doggystyle are some positions that can help induce intense arousal.

5. Get ED Therapy

Some people may confuse the symptoms of erectile dysfunction as reduced penile sensitivity. Fortunately, there are ways men can treat erectile dysfunction safely and effectively.

The main method is by getting prescription ED treatments at a local men’s clinic. They will prescribe pills, creams, gels and injections aimed at improving your erectile dysfunction and increasing your sexual arousal.

If these don’t work, they may prescribe RestoreWave therapy, which is a specialized treatment that uses a wand-like device to break up plaque in the erectile tissues and improve blood flow.
