Are you eating MORE red meat to fight cancer?

I was challenging the common misconception that red meat has been unhealthy for years, but now it is even more scientific evidence that supports my beliefs.

The narrative in the mainstream health community has been that red meat, especially processed varieties (think hot dogs and salami), can be a cancer time bomb because of presence of certain compounds – such as heme iron and hormones.

While concerns about the potential cancer risks associated with red meat have led many to approach it cautiously, a recent study published in Nature presents a surprising twist, suggesting that eating beef, lamb and dairy could actually prevent Cancer.

Science shows that trans-vaccenic acid (TVA), a fatty acid found in these foods, appears to supercharge our immune cells to become lean, mean, tumor-fighting machines.

Scientists at the University of Chicago discovered a strong link between higher TVA levels in the blood and a stronger response to immunotherapy. That’s right — we’re talking about TVA that might be boosted as a dietary supplement to give cancer treatments an extra edge.

By zeroing in on nutrients and metabolites from foods, scientists reveal how they affect people’s health at the cellular level. And it turns out that TVA is a standout player, activating key immune pathways and boosting anti-tumor immunity.

The research team even created a “blood nutrient” library of about 700 food-derived metabolites, and guess what? TVA topped the charts for boosting anti-tumor immunity in both human and mouse cells.

While the study showed that a TVA-enriched diet significantly slowed tumor growth in mice and even improved responses to immunotherapy in lymphoma patients, tResearchers are quick to reiterate the known health risks of eating too much red meat.

However, this study is a fascinating look at how certain nutrients, even from unexpected sources, can play a key role in your body’s fight against serious diseases and even some types of cancer.
